Many people make these decisions on their own and may come to the wrong choice because they have an attachment (emotional or spiritual) to the wrong element. The role that God plays in this is that He allows us to make the right choice based on faith, and what is best in His eyes. This choice will always be the one that is better for ourselves and for the lives of others, as God is all-knowing and understanding.
