Personal ment of Goals I come from a country where women have struggled all their lives for gender equality. The struggle has spilled over intothe 21st century where we are currently allowed a number of freedoms that allow us to further improve ourselves by giving a woman an opportunity to pursue higher educational studies such as a Masters Degree in Linguistics. Being a woman of the 21st century, I am not just about to pass up the opportunity to pursue my educational goals and ambitions. That is why I am presenting myself before your admissions committee at the moment, hoping to be given an opportunity to attend your university during the next term as a graduate studies candidate in Linguistics.

It has taken 8 years for the women in my country to reach the stage of freedom that we are currently experiencing. Finally, we are being allowed into the workplace with responsibilities in the fields of economic, social, political, and legal importance. I am determined to do my part in furthering the cause of the female rights in my country by ensuring that I get the best quality of education available in the world in order to develop my skills and new perspectives that I can take back home with me after I complete my graduate studies.

My plan is to use everything that I have learned overseas to further fuel the cause of womans rights in my country. That is the main reason that I wish to come to the United States for my higher studies in Linguistics. Nowhere else in the world will be able to say that my education was shaped and molded by the most qualified and experienced professors in the world except in the United States at the Catholic University of America. I feel that Linguistics is the field of study will allow me to further promote my culture and country in America as a whole while I learn more and more about the history and importance of Linguistics in our modern world.

Everyone knows that Islamic and Middle Eastern cultures are little understood in the Western world. Due to the high degree of misinformation and misconception about Islam and the Middle East, it is of the utmost importance that more Middle Eastern and Islamic students gain acceptance into American universities such as the CUA. For it is only by being open minded and allowing the enrollment of students such as myself that the cultural differences that cause such discord and divisiveness can finally be put to an end.

I fully intend to become a tool of unification once I am accepted for graduate studies in Linguistics at CUA. It wont be easy to erase decades of misconception but I believe that first impressions are meant to be changed provided one can prove that they are the exact opposite of what they were first thought to be. I shall embody all that is good and proud about the Islamic culture while I am a student at CUA. My intention is to heavily promote our wonderful characteristics of respect for the elderly, mercy, modesty, peace, love, kindness, sharing and cooperation with others.

Upon my return to my home country, I shall continue my efforts to bring forth unity between the Middle Eastern and Western cultures alongside my quest to further the cause of female freedom in my country. Once I complete the establishment of my own business firm, the Middle Eastern world, or my country at the very least, will come to better understand the Western culture and its place in the modern Islam world because I will make sure that the cultural exchange based upon the study of Linguistics will not end with the completion of my degree in the United States.
