This paper discusses the techniques that a student can apply to help boost performance in an exam. Know what is being tested. If a student does not know what is going to be tested in the exam, then he is preparing to fail the exam. To get a concept of what can be tested in an exam, one can try to acquire the necessary materials and copies of previous exams set on the topic in question from older students. The strategy that works very well; it is because teachers cannot set questions in exam papers that are off topic, and they cover this in all exams.

Teachers tend to repeat the same old questions and just restructure previous questions to seem different. One can also take and read all the study guides and worksheets assigned for a particular class; if a student studies the materials seriously he or she is assured of passing the exam (Rubenstein, 2012). Some students prefer to study in a public library or in a school’s institution, where there is some reasonable silence. Others prefer to study under the shade of a tree; a student should select a study location by choosing a site that he or she feels quiet, calm and easy to concentrate.

However, students are cautioned not to have music playing on the background as they study. This is because the music more often than not makes the student lose concentration on the material being studied (Rubenstein, 2012). When a student realizes that he or she can perform well in the midterms and is has trouble with one quiz, the student is cautioned not to ignore the midterm materials while concentrating on the quiz materials. The student should try to balance the two by allocating adequate time to studying the quiz materials (Rubenstein, 2012).

A student should set a target of what he or she wishes to score in a test. This will motivate the student to study hard to ensure that he or she meets the set target. There is no grade that cannot be
