Martin Luther King: Letter From Birmingham Jail" Martin Luther, a prominent national iconic figure, who adopted nonviolence in the progression of civil rights in the United States and conveyed the message across the world, a visionary is known for being one of the brilliant orators in the history of United States of America."Letter from Birmingham Jail" portrays his outlook and attitude towards the prevailing injustice. According to King, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere".
Written on 16th April 1963, not only exhibits his foresightedness but also depicts his understanding about the persisting issues around the world.Inspired and motivated by M. K. Gandhis non violence, King not only inculcated Gandhis preaching but also prudently followed them. Kings insight and psychological perception of human mind empowered him to encourage public awakening. He wrote, "We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people".
His desire was to bring out the best an individual possess and harness for creating and nurturing a noble society. He was a firm believer of mind strength as he wrote, " Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will". Further, his insight is highlighted as he wrote, "I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and willingly accepts the penalty by staying in jail in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the very highest respect for the law".
His patriotism and his ability to incite the same in others was remarkable as he related individual accomplishments with the progress of the nation and stimulated people as he wrote, ".. abused and scorned tho we may be, our destiny is tied up with Americas destiny". His beliefs on non-violence, truth and peace were incredible and treasured by people across the world. His thoughtful and wise approach in generating an optimistic behavior towards nation, its people, besides being honest, peaceful, composed and yet demanding for the justice has made him one of the most significant leaders.
He had the natural quality of motivating people through his solicitous temperament and could achieve the triumph as reformation in peoples accepted wisdom to bring freedom. He shaped public viewpoint by means of his judicious and discerning inscriptions. "Letter from Birmingham Jail", written on April 16, 1963; is an illustration of his vividness and brilliance in generating positive, progressive and affirmative environment for the cognitive development of every individual, contributing effectively to the progress of nation.
