The park is a social place enjoyed by everyone and forms part of the American identity that must be preserved. A sunny day and the perfect weather with just the right amount of wind would draw the most number of crowds to leave their homes for an activity-filled day at the park. Little kids look healthiest with their sun kissed cheeks and laughter that fill the air. They run around and play on the slides, monkey bars and other contraptions on the playground while adults look after them while chatting with other people they know.

The surrounding is filled with chatter, laughter, banters and the occasional squeals of those who accidentally got hurt. Dogs and their owners can be seen as well walking or running around for a good exercise. It is a usual meeting place for people which make parks an inherent part of American society. This is why more people and organizations such as Parks for People are calling for the improvement and opening of more parks. “City parks and open space improve our physical and psychological health, strengthen our communities, and make our cities and neighborhoods more attractive places to live and work” (Sherer, 2006, p.6). These parks contribute more than we realize, even so the national parks that are part of the “nation’s natural and cultural heritage” (The Untold Stories, 2009, par.2). The vibrancy that is apparent when people flock to the park is testament to its vital role in the community.

There is no doubt that parks are ideal places where people mingle and enjoy activities without having to spend a dime. They must be preserved for the continued enjoyment of people and the future generations to come.BibliographySherer, P. M. (2006). The Benefits of Parks: Why America Needs More City Parks and Open Space. San Francisco: The Trust for Public Land. The Untod Stories. (2009). The National Parks:Americas Best Idea.
