The work of Shakespeare entitled ‘Sonnet 18’ is nothing but a comparison of summer season with the beauty of a female (Shakepeare 1609). The western cultures have been known to value summers, as the winters in these areas are ruthless to say the least. But, the poem considered a touch of a beautiful female as a clear sunny day. The clear days are rare and far between but they are memorable and so does the soft touch of a woman. The ‘My Last Duchess’ is conceived by Robert Brownings and the poem is particularly more fetish than, its abovementioned comparison (Browning, 1842). Robert opened his heart in front of his readers, as he wanted to talk about his fantasy about a dream woman. The poem attempted to communicate that females are like summers as they come rarely in one’s life and therefore, they should be cared about. The Shakespearean philosophy is stemmed from the idea that the inter-gender relationships should have long-term nature and people should be trained to view their wives, mothers, sisters, and girlfriends as friends and companions. The poem covered every societal role of a female by relating them with a season (Shakepeare 1609). The other work unfortunately thrived on the idea that females are products that have to be consumed and thrown away. The mention of breasts as the favorite spot is barbarically vulgar (Browning 1842). The body part that God created for the sole purpose of child’s nourishment should not be used in a sexual manner. The latter work is also non-generic in nature because it is too narrowly focused on one and only one role of a female (Browning 1842). The narrow focus of the poem caused it to become unpopular with the passage of time. But, the legendary work of Shakespeare remained evergreen as its relevancy is being considered valid by the modern poets of the 21st century (Shakepeare 1609). In the light of above discussion it can be established that the artworks that are ethically and socially sound are going to withstand the brutal test of time and those that are not developed on the basis of solid civic principles are bound to wither away. Conclusion This paper analyzed and reviewed two important artworks and found that the Shakespeare’s work is more relevant and lasting because of its generic nature. The poem written by Robert is not ethically valid as it discussed sexual role of a female. All prevalent religious philosophies of the world consider sexuality as an extremely private and personal matter. Thusly, the latterly evaluated work is not everlasting because of its narrow focus of limited dimensions of females’ role in the society. Shakespeare on the other side helped people in seeing their females as friends and companions. The Shakespeare’s major works are dedicated to find meaning in one’s life and therefore, the best minds of all times have been found with undying love for the work of the genius.
