This notion, however, is gradually changing. This article will answer the question of whether or not women should be allowed in the combat. It will also discuss the challenges women in the combat face during battles. It will further debate on whether women should be allowed to fight on the front lines during the war. Their (Women’s) capability to withstand war and their intelligence quotient will be subject to discussion. The aspect of gender equality will be expounded. As a woman, one faces numerous tribulations ranging from domestic violence, being looked down upon by the society just to name a few. Through it all, women come off it stronger and bolder. Women can face stress head on because of the absence of testerone in their system as compared to men who choose to hub it (frustrations) within. If a woman decides that she wants to go to war, be in the front line, and fight for her country, let her be. Women make amazing shots because of their ability to concentrate.

Just like men, women can stab, slit guts, toss grenades. Real women can fight, design, save lives, and fly jets if need be. They can face any obstacle be it hostility from the opponent, weather changes and hardships just like men. Though most of their efforts go unrewarded, women can spy, venture into politics, be pioneers, go for long periods without food and water, raise families, nurse the ailing. Strong, intelligent, and self-driven women are allowed to join the military, do what is expected of them.

During World War I, many women were deployed as nurses and played other roles in the military. Leon Panetta, the defense secretary abolished a rule that was passed in 1994 which prohibited women from being recruited into the military. Panetta said that the abolishment of this rule was because of the discovery that women could fight, especially those in the Iraq and Afghanistan army (Devilbiss, 1990). This allowed thousands of women to join and actively battle it out in the front line. Norway was the first country to allow women to join the military, in 1985.

The women were allowed to practice in all capacities even the submarine battleship. Israel began allowing women in the military in1885. By 2009, women specialized in flying combat aircraft, rescue teams, and artillery departments. The Minister for Defense, Australia, opened the artillery and Special Forces to 7% of the women in the military. Ten percent of the Australians’ combat team for example, is women. The first female captain was appointed in 2003 to lead the Canadian army. Another woman was assigned the role of deputy commanding officer in the military arms department, the same year (Skaine, 2011). Researchers in Denmark argued that women were just as capable as men were, when carrying out different roles assigned to them. They further stated that the qualified, motivated, and able women could be allowed to fight in the front line (Solaro, 2006).

Women in the French combat team add up to a fifth of the whole team. They are allowed to serve in all departments except that of the submarine warship.
