This paper will look into illegal use of steroids of by athletes and for general use. Purpose The purpose of this essay is to show why the usage of steroids by athletes and for general use is illegal. Steroids are precarious for 2 reasons: First, steroids are prohibited, plus they can harm an individual’s health, particularly when taken in huge amounts over time. In addition, the health problems instigated by anabolic steroids might not materialize until years following the steroids intake. Statement of the Problem While they might aid build muscle, anabolic steroids can yield very severe side effects. Taking steroids over a long spell can damagingly affect the system of reproduction. In men, steroids can lead to impotence; sperm reduction yielded in the testicles, as well as decreased testicle size (Kutscher, Lund & Perry 290). Women who take steroids could have complications with their menstruating cycles since steroids interrupt the development and the release of ovum from the ovaries.
