This he does by illustrating even the facts that can easily be ignored by laypersons and persons seeking to discredit his opinion and work. One such way of displaying the facts can be seen with the application of historical facts that range from the founding of the postal service and the application of the postal service, by the government, to disseminate information to the people. By mentioning the exact dates and figures involved in bringing the service to its current state of service, his arguments and facts are justified as they serve to be informative.

As a result, his presentation of information makes the author appear knowledgeable on the topic of the postal service in America, its functions towards the good of the American people. This can further be presented by the cite of legislative events, such as the Post Office Act of 1792, which the author cites even the date showing the level of skill and information that the author has on the topic at hand (Richard). However, not all his information can be considered accurate despite accurate dates and statement of facts with the backing of history.

This is because, considering the article is an opinion of one person; the author is highly likely to be pushing his own agenda. The agenda, in this case being the losses that the Post Office is making and how the losses can be cut back or even maximize on profits with the elimination of mail delivery on Saturdays. This opinion is questionable because, despite the law demanding service for six days a week, this could serve to bring down the mail delivery system, as well as revenues. A drop in revenues could be because most of the parcels that the author claims will still be distribution during the weekend are accompanied by letters.

Delaying mail delivery by a day is illogical as it costs the users of the post office massively in terms of productivity, and the post office loses due to loss of trust in the system. It is because of this that the article bears logical appeal, but loses it on the aspects of focusing on a single side the losses of delivering mail on Saturdays. In addition, the author makes a valid argument on the threat that the post office faces from emerging technologies, such as the internet and competing delivery companies including FedEx and U.P.S.

This he puts correctly by mentioning that the post office shall remain in business despite the existence of these companies due to pricing policies. Valid arguments are drawn on this where the post office works tremendously well to ensure that it does not go out of business and maintains reliability. As a result, the author and the article both show the level of competence in generating information and passing it to interested parties. In relation to pathos, appeal to the emotions of the intended audience, the article highlights aspects of significance to the audience.

This is by showing how much the post office is losing in terms of revenue ad how the audience stands to be affected. As such, the author shows the competition against the post office and its losing out on business, as well as how it is gaining. The losses are because of services delivered to Americans on Saturdays, which draws the sympathies of the audience towards the post office in that they should try to understand should the services stop running on that day. This is all in an attempt to cut
