Letting the president of the company know what is exactly going on in the project is an ethical way of handling this situation, especially when there is huge money involved in its development. On the other hand, this may also cost the job of many other people in the team involved in developing the polymer if this fact remains hidden and the president eventually finds out. I think that the best way of handling this situation is to revise the letter of my boss stating how it had been difficult for the team to develop the desired polymer at the beginning of the letter. She should then add further how they have worked hard to achieve it through failed attempts all the time.
It is necessary for the team to admit their failure to the company’s president, yet they have to make sure that he understands where they are coming from. If I were Lisa, I would make sure that the letter states in detail how much effort had been exhausted by the team and its individual members in order to achieve its goals. The president should nonetheless be assured that the team continues to work hard in order to create the perfect polymer that the company is dying to produce.
If you were Brad, how would you handle this situation? 180 words
It is necessary for salesmen to please their clients in order to obtain a good business relationship with each other. If business had been bad for Ventrec Industries, there are many different ways in order to slash its expenditures in order to cut its spending and save the company, as well as the people working with it. On the other hand, too much budget slash may make the company’s sales performance suffer further because of very limited resources.
If I were Brad, I would simply ask my boss, Gail Zin, for a private meeting with her. I will raise my concern about my observation about the dramatic budget cuts that had happened in the department over the last six years. In a calm and subtle conversation, she should understand how the dramatic budget cuts over the years may have affected the department’s performance, which is an essential instrument in bringing the company back on track. If her proposal is approved, customer satisfaction may decline, and so does the sales performance of the entire team which would greatly affect the company.
In your opinion- Were Gink's actions in creating "vaporware" to harm a competitor unethical? If so, what should Linda do at this point? 180 words
Gink’s action in creating “vaporware” to intimidate CrisMark, its competitor in the video gaming industry, is an ethical violation, as well as a violation of the rights of its employee when the company obviously “leaked” the prototype intentionally to the public without her approval. Although the result of the situation brought all the favor to Linda’s company where she worked, it is not right for them to use her talent and skill to torment other companies through her.
What Linda could do at this point would be to seek an explanation about the “leakage” of the prototypes she made for the company. Linda could talk to her supervisor about the situation in a nice way and ask them to admit their faults. Linda has the right to know the real reason why the company made such a move for it may reflect their apprehensions about her team’s ability to produce a handheld game console that is better than their competitor’s supposedly revolutionary game console in the gaming market. Linda has the right to understand the purpose of the unethical move their company made since her team worked hard enough spending long hours in the company in order to create a better and more innovative game console to par with its competitor.
If he would be giving this person who offered them “inside help,” this means he would be hiring her soon when they had won over the project. Consequently, if this person works in their company, he cannot be sure if she could eventually be trusted, especially when other projects such as this come up. Would he know if she would not sell the company’s proposal to its competitor in the future? I think, what Henry should address at this point is to find out what this friend of his team means about the “inside help” their company is getting. Only then he would be able to make sure he can trust his team and work hard to win the project.
