On the other hand, the Play Intense Cologne is made up of the essences of patchouli, mandarin, bergamot, Vetyver, coffee flower, tonka bean, labdanum, Caribbean Amyris wood and pink pepper (FragranceNet , par 1). Both colognes contain mandarin orange and bergamot giving them both a citrus scent. However, Play Intense has a milder citrus scent as compared to Play. The stronger citrus scent of Play may be attributed to the added presence of grapefruit and bitter orange aside from the mandarin orange. The smell of Amyris wood is more overpowering in Play Intense than in Play. Furthermore the tonka bean which is not a fragrance present in Play can be noticed in Play Intense. Both colognes contain Vetyver and patchouli which gives them a “woody”, earthy and herbal scent. The patchouli also contributes an exotic and musky scent for both Play and Play Intense. The Play cologne has black pepper aroma while the Play Intense uses the pink pepper fragrance. The pink pepper fragrance provides the Play Intense a mild, oriental, pleasantly sweet fruity scent with a bit of spicy whiff in it. Overall, one can say that Play Intense strengthens the woodsy side of the perfume while toning down the citrus essence. On the other hand, Play tones down the woodsy side and blows up the citrus aroma. The classification of the Play Intense cologne is oriental/spicy while the Play cologne is classified as citrus/fruity (FragranceNet). They are alike in scent strength though, because both colognes are considered to have a moderate fragrance. In terms of the target market, Play is recommended for college students or those males within the age range of 17 to 30 years old. In contrast, Play Intense is targeted towards the more mature males with ages ranging from 30 years old and up. The Play Intense is more for the professional males while Play is for the young adults, mostly students. With regards to the lifestyle use of the colognes, both Play and Play Intense are intended for casual use. More than the Play cologne, the Play Intense may have a more varied use in that it may also be used during formal occasions because of the more manly scent that it evokes. Both scents could last anywhere from six to ten hours. Play and Play Intense are both available in edt spray 1.7 oz and 3.3 oz. The Play and Play Intense colognes are both encased in bottles that look like a multimedia player. The Play bottle is designed “with beautiful proportions and super smooth contours, which embodies minimalist pureness: a round-angled rectangle of transparent glass outlined in blackest black, accentuated by touches of red” (Fragrantica LLC , par 3). In contrast, Play Intense’s bottle is a frosted black glass version. They differ also in terms of packaging because Play’s box is more of white while Play Intense’s box is more of black. Givenchy has developed a women’s version for both colognes. The Play cologne for women has a woody, fruity, floral, aromatic sparkling fragrance (Fragrantica LLC , par 1). Like the Play cologne, the Play Intense for women has a woody scent too. However, unlike the Play cologne, the Play Intense does not have a fruity floral aroma; rather it exudes an ambery floral warm fragrance (Fragrantica LLC , par 2). The design of the Play and Play Intense bottles for women imitates a high-tech digital equipment with “gently rounded lines and refined details evoking a piece of silver ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
