From the result it has been seen that foe level control up at 10 with Tn=0, Tv=0 was the ultimate setting. As expectant increasing XP 20 20 and retaining the other parameters led to oscillation which died down. The response in actual values looked reasonable at this point. IT was seen that increasing the value of XP was supposed to increase the overshot but the value of Tn toned down the level of overshot and also reduced oscillation that came after the overshot. For example, when XP was increased from 20 to 40 and Tn increased from 0 to 11 the overshot was retained at about 10 with the oscillation being minimized.

This shows that increasing Tn was going to reduce the oscillation further up to the point where it was optimum. Having a very large Tn on the other hand resulted in distortions as observed in the figure the response because this resulted in under dumping and that the gain 4.4. A large value of Tn may also result in the control variable having a lip increase and then having a constant gradient increase which with the same pattern being transferred to the actual variable as observed in figure 4.12. Having large XP with relatively low Tn resulted in high oscillation in the control and actual variables, which meant that the system was not being under control.

Having the right combination of Xp, Tn and Tv could help achieve desired response with a concave increase curve being realized in both the control variable and the actual variable as can be observed in figure 4.18. For the temperature setting it was seen that at the ultimate setting there was continuous oscillation but this was maintained between about 41.5 and 47 just below the desired figure of 50C. On adjusting Xp to 16 the oscillation was dumped out but the actual figure was stabilizing at a figure below 40 C.

The setting of XP =17.6; Tn= 2.81 ensured that there was reduced just reduced oscillation, which ensured actual temperature did not go below 40 C but this also resulted in actual temperature going beyond the desired temperature of 50C.
