At the management level, this is where the agreed media and the methods will be used to communicate risk matters and it will be providing the stakeholders’ feedback on how effective the communication strategy is. The senior level wills identify the methods and media to be used in communication and they will manage the stakeholders.

The organizational infrastructure and organization for communication about risk management will be established at the leadership level. At the level also, it will ensure there is the development of an organizational stakeholder engagement strategy that will be consistent.

Question 2: Fire risk audit

  • A brief of active and passive fire safety systems present in the supermarket by DtS Provisions of the Building Code of Australia.

Active fire safety systems assist in detecting and responding to fire outbreaks in the building. The Active systems installed in this building include: Fire Break Glass Alarm (B.G.A.), Fire Control Systems, Fire Indicator Panel (F.I.P.), Fire Doors, Smoke and Thermal Fire Detectors, Portable Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose Reels & Fire Hydrants

Passive fire safety systems help during the room design to contain all possible causes of fire. They include Concrete encasement, Board systems, Spray- systems, Intumescent paints, Timber encasing, Concrete filling, Water filling, and Flame shield

  • Possible fire ignition sources in the trading area include Inflammable goods such as fats and oils, Smoke from the kitchen shops, and sparks from electronic shops. In the storage, the possible fire ignition sources include heat from stored goods and explosion from stored inflammable goods. Lastly, at the office, the major ignition source is the faulty sockets.
  • Fuel loads in the trading area include dresses, cooking fats, and inflammable perfumes. In the store, the fuel load can run up to 2 tones per 10 square meters. In the office, we have a very low fuel load due to the available space.
  • The occupant characteristics should also be taken into consideration in the supermarket. The activities of the staff also determine how susceptible they are to fire hazards. The staff who deal with flammable fuel are likely to be affected. We have staff who are working from one corner to another of the supermarket. They are also most likely to face fire risks. Lastly, the staff who are in offices such as the managers and the directors mostly deal with fewer risky materials and are surrounded by low fuel loads.
