Current space system In this study, I offer detailed analysis of Satellite Swath as the current space system that was not discussed in class. A satellite swath refers to the area of the earth that is usually imaged during a satellite orbit. The width for such a satellite swath may vary and range from between ten to hundreds of kilometers. In every instance of orbit, the satellite swath covers a specific area of the earth. The satellite orbit’s elevation is designed in a manner that allows the swath to retrace a similar path and location repetitively over an interlude of time, usually several weeks.

This is to imply that it has a geostationary orbit (Chesley 202-211). In the provision of remote sensing imagery, satellites provide the greatest deal and through their unique sensing characteristics they are able to provide detailed imagery formation. Additionally, this adds to the fact that the rotation of the earth from west to east causes the satellite swath to shift position, and be able to cover a new area with each consecutive pass. The complete coverage of the earth imagery is made possible by the rotation of the earth and the orbiting of the satellite.

The technology that swaths use is that which relates to the crystal video receiver that was used in the enhancement of World War II. With this form of technology, the satellite swath is well thought-out to have been the foremost to use a high tech automated system of processing data, and be able to handle hundreds of radar pulses per second. However, the swath and the size of the scene both depend on the type of sensor used by the satellite (Chesley 135-141).Work CitedChesley, Julie. Applied Project Management for Space Systems.
