While he defines plagiarism as using someone else’s research, ideas, theories or other academic information is one’s own through duplication work without substantial attribution to their sources. Fraser, (2014) further states plagiarism is associated with the presence of unspecified quotations in texts, use of erroneous sources for quotations, improper paraphrasing and extensive reproduction of ideas and words that comprise a considerable fraction of a student’s work, regardless of his or her attempts to credit the sources. The writer used secondary sources to provide literature on the topic and survey method to collect data on plagiarism, collaboration and collusion. Fraser found that collaboration should be limited in computer subjects other it will lead to collusion. The author highlighted method of mitigating academic dishonesty. In so doing, they are able to appreciate and acknowledge the efforts of their colleagues as well as ensure compliance with intellectual property rights. Citing indicates the completeness, reliability and accuracy of information contained in the paper. Furthermore, use of credible citations in the appropriate format indicates an individual’s proficiency in incorporating others’ work in personal researches and articles. Proper bibliographic citations indicate the title, publication information, author, and edition of the source. The author states that improper citation is total failure to give details of the source from which others’ ideas have been used. This is considered plagiarism since the student implies that ideas in the paper are personal findings. Attribution allows a student to acknowledge another author's hard work and avoid plagiarism. The common nature of plagiarism among students is still a very serious concern among academics, who try to minimize plagiarism through the application of serious measures. Education is the one of the primary foundations of a flourishing society, and plagiarism violates the ethical principles of that foundation. The author states that plagiarism investigations can be avoided by careful preparation, attention to detail and studying in a well-organized way. This includes good note taking, sensible filing of source and notes together, and appreciation of primary and secondary sources of material can help to minimize the risk of plagiarism. Summary of Puga (2014). Analyzing and reducing plagiarism at university According to Puga (2014) is undesirable academic practice that result in the inability to work based on one's own strengths. The author of the article aimed at showing the impact analyzing and detecting plagiarism at university and methods employed to deter its occurrence. The author sampled of 64 students who were given a research paper to do and plagiarism was detected. Then the same group was taken to ethical lessons where they were thought about plagiarism and how to prevent it. Puga, (2014) states that students were thought the importance of avoiding plagiarism. According to the author plagiarism became less rampant due to drastic measures undertaken to reduce it. The academic thrives on the excellence of student who pursues individual excellence for their careers. Puga, (2014) states the best ways to actually avoid plagiarism when writing a research paper depend on whether the student knows what she or he is writing about or not. In the case that a student is very well versed on the issue it is quite easy to avoid plagiarism and do a good a paper. Namely the best thing to do when one is well acquainted with the subject is to use no direct quotes. One should simply write directly as if explaining the issue to someone and quoting from memory, and then afterwards looking up who else wrote about the issue or has a similar or the same position as the student in question. Puga (2014) in this article cites that showed acceptable levels of internal consistency and differential functioning when measuring positive attitude towards plagiarism. Lack of knowledge on existing pre-written ideas and words, inadequate knowledge on citation conventions and misconceptions on academic writing may lead to plagiarism. Task 3- Reflection The articles that were used in this case were searched from the used website. The tutor had provided the articles in the website for all students taking the course to access. When going through the paper first understood the article topic as well as the objective then and its purpose. Then went through the literature review and Method of data collection and the nature of participants to the study. The setting or location of the study was also looked into. The result of the study was understood and proper notes were taken. The conclusion and abstract gave a summary of the results of the study of the article. PERSONAL REFLECTION This articles are important to my study since they explores plagiarism, collusion and Collaboration. Which has negative impact on academy studies of individuals. it is unethical to use someone work without acknowledging the owner. The papers have helped me understand describe the effects of ethical issues on plagiarism. Ethical issues should be considered in research especially in data collection process. This is because people have certain cultural aspects and therefore ethical issues should be observed for effectiveness. Ethics cultivates the morality in the students. That’s why whenever a child starts formal education he or she is taught some basic concepts of ethically right or wrong things such as “Always speak the truth”, “Don’t take other’s object without his or her permission”, “ Always show respect to elders” etcetera. These things are nothing but the commencement of the effort to teach the child learner about the basic ethics. We need it because ethics is not a natural or basic instinct of a child. But it is an essential quality that should be incorporated inside the child so that he or she can grow up as a good citizen or one of the societies. Thus the articles enforce this early childhood teachings. This is the reason as to why the articles is important since it has expressed the different ways in which academic ethics can be enforced.
