Research Proposal (Name) (University) Introduction Education is the cornerstone of human development, notably among the children and the youth. Evidently, it offers significant knowledge in the divergent field, given its importance in enhancing a country’s economy. As such, most global governments in various states have educational policies that aim at provisioning appropriate learning opportunities for all students despite their varied inabilities based on either ethnic or language barrier (Education Bureau, 2015). In effect, educational support pivotal to students in Australian Secondary Schools who need to learn the Chinese language. Evidently, the 2014 Education Policy Address outlines measures that are needed to be used in helping those students who cannot speak other foreign languages but have a desire to learn them (Education Bureau, 2015). The students need to be trained and assisted to learn their intended courses and other educational support such as learning the Chinese language by Australian secondary school students (Special Education Support, 2014). Consequently, the Government Education Policy is committed to providing continuous support in integrating the Chinese language in the Australian curriculum. As such a pre-service teachers need to provide fundamental skills to the Australian students who need to read and write the Chinese language. As such, this retrospect paper seeks to analyze the educational approach of the Australian students studying the Chinese language. It draws upon significant research and methodologies. The ability to speak Chinese shall help these students fit well in China just in case they decide to further their education that country (Education Bureau, 2014). As such educational support provided by the teacher shall be very vital in helping this student learn the foreign. However, despite the efforts done by the Government Education Policy, there are some students who do not get the stipulated educational support services to help them learn properly in various secondary schools (Education Bureau, 2014). As such, this research proposal seeks to find out the problems that Australian students face in the process of learning Chinese as a foreign language despite the availability of education support services provided by the pre-teachers. Literature Review Educational support practices are vital in helping students with varied disabilities or different desires acquire relevant education without any form of discrimination. Consequently, these services are provided to ensure that students who are not capable of doing things like fluent speech in a foreign language in this case the Chinese language, hearing impairment, language barriers and among others. Evidently, this hinders them from proper learning acquire education the same way other normal students who are exposed to all resources required for learning do (Diamond, 2014). As various scholars have done such a number of educational support research rs and that justifies the validity of my research proposal. Consequently, some of the researches done in the same field include the following. Firstly, an online research paper of Professor Charles Desforges and Alberto Abouchaar who did a research on The Impact of Parental Involvement, Parental Support and Family Education on Pupil Education Achievements and Adjustments (Desforges & Abouchaar, 2014). This research focused on the impact of the family in language acquisition in relation to students learning. Specifically, the research focused on the effects of the first language to a pupil at an early age before joining the school. Consequently, from the findings the research recommended that those students who are exposed to first language and find the same language in schools always have an easy time during their studies. In effect, those Australian students who do not know Chinese and have a desire to learn the language are in a better place of receiving educational support to help them learn the foreign language. Secondly, a research publication about the Challenge and Change in Further Education was conducted by Professor Ian Diamond in 2010. This research focused on the challenges that students face in acquiring higher education in foreign countries that do not use their native language. As such, from the findings the research recommended the inclusion of foreign languages in the curriculum of various countries to give those students who decide to pursue their higher education in foreign countries. Consequently, teaching Chinese to Australian students shall help the students greatly (Diamond, 2014). This research addressed the impotence of educational support to students who do not know the native language of the universities of foreign countries. As a result, it relates to the research proposal since the proposal seeks to establish the importance of education to support to Australian secondary school students. Thirdly, research suggested that there has to be provision of educational support services to students with inability of speaking the Chinese language in Australia to ensure an easy time during their learning experience (Education Bureau, 2015). As a result, the research recommended that the Chinese language be introduced in kindergartens and other lessons on the Chinese language be conducted in various learning institutions in Australia (Education Bureau, 2015). The inclusion of the Chinese language into the education curriculum in Australia shall help the non-Chinese speaking students learn the Chinese language and avoid being isolated from the rest in an event of traveling or interacting with a Chinese student. As a result, this research proposal is valid since it conquers with other researches done in the field of education support (Education Bureau, 2015). Other researches done in the field include but not limited to an online research paper on the topic Understanding the Education Experiences and Needs of South Asian Families done by Brenda Ellen Lisenby in 2009. Ellen (2009) recommended the use of education support. Casey Burkholder’s research on exploring the education of Hong Kong’s Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Secondary Students in 2013 explored the challenges that students who only know one language face during their learning experiences in various learning institutions in foreign countries (Burkholder, 2013). Evidently, the research outlined above justify the validity of this research proposal given the educational support to offered to students amongst other challenges that various students in Australian Secondary Schools face. Research Objectives i. To understand the significance of learning Chinese language to an Australian student ii. To understand the type of education support services that have to be provided to these students. Research Questions 1. What are the education support services that have to be provided to Australian students learning the Chinese language? 2. What is the importance learning the Chinese language by Australian Secondary Schools? Research Design This research proposal will incorporate questioners as data collection method. Evidently, questioners shall aid in appropriate data collection since it shall offer a sufficient information to help in the research (Creswell, 2015). The questionnaires will effectively address issues related to educational support services provided to Australian students learning the Chinese language and the importance of learning this language to an Australian secondary student. In effect, the questionnaires will provide relevant information about the research topic; the significance learning Chinese language to an Australian student and the type of education support services that have to be provided to these students. The sample of the questioner to be used is provided in the appendix section. The chosen data collection tool shall be efficient since the research shall be conducted in only one secondary school hence providing an easy time for interpretation and analysis of data (Phellas et al., 2015).The questioner shall be given at random to Australian secondary students in the chosen school. Additionally, the point of interest shall be focused on those students who study Chinese as one of their subjects. As such, the questioners shall be given randomly to students. The students shall be allowed to feel the questioners freely, and there shall be no provision for names or personal data to enhance the provision of accurate information. After filing the questioners, the students shall submit them for verification, recording of data and interpretation. Data Collection The collected data will be analyzed and recoded on a table to aid in an easy tabulation on a pie chart to represent the research outcomes. Polhemus (2015) stresses the importance of data tabulation using different ways, in effect; the research proposal shall use the pie chart with colors to represent different outcomes from the questioners. Evidently, the effective representation medium will highlight the findings in the most simplified way to aid in quick interpretation. Tentatively, it will enable the development of quick recommendations in relation to provision of educational support to Australian students learning (Kennedy et al 2015). Conclusion It is evident therefore that a competent educator ought to poses diverse skills in the education platform. The knowledge and skill set will improve their approach to instilling knowledge. Contrariwise, they can effectively addresses learning challenges affecting students. As such, this research proposal shall provide the relevant information that shall help a pre-service teacher in Australia who is new in the profession to know the challenges that Australian students face in their daily outcomes of learning Chinese as an additional language. Additionally, the proposal gives the armature teachers relevant information about education support assistance that have to be provided to students learning the Chinese language. Government Education Policies from the research shall enable teachers to understand the importance of education in the society and ways in which a teacher can help a student acquire relevant education in the society in an effective manner. The research proposal will be pivotal in the professional orientation and modeling of a competent pre-service teacher in Australian Secondary school. Word count 1874 References Burkholder, C. (2015).
