Children Vs Discussion Name: Institution: PART A Introduction: Early childhood is one of the stages of life that should be taken care of because it acts as the foundation to every child in skills and physical development. At their tender age, children are required to go to through early childhood education, which is a form of education that focuses on learning of children. This form of education involves various activities such as playing, storytelling, teaching of eating habits and other forms of interaction by various children (Saito, 2012). Although play becomes one of the best activities that young children gain higher percentage in knowledge acquiring. Activities like social games, interaction of children in class through discussion also plays a decisive role in their development. The discussion interactions are conducted through storytelling, study of certain stories books and analysis of such education materials in order to develop their understanding. Moreover, these children do interact through mastering of certain portions of the book especially conversation for them to develop their communication skills. Therefore, it is necessary for these children to attend this form of education for them to have a better foundation in their education. Literature Review Research Topic: This research focuses on Impacts of Encouraging Children to Engage in Meaningful Discussion and Revisit their Ideas. Importance of the Topic: For proper education, it is essential for proper relation among the students and their teachers in order for them to increase their level of understanding. According to Bentley, (2012), it is advisable for teachers to encourage children to interact together and parents during their time in school and at home. Through this, these children will be able to learn more from their fellow children. As a teacher in a long day care centre, through interactions with children, I have noticed various issues that affect children’s life. Most of the children in my class are unaware in many things, for instance, some of the children have no idea on recycling and composting. Moreover, some are not aware that various fruits and other consumable foods like vegetable are from plants .There are various ways into which children can interact, for instance, most children interact through play, storytelling, through various social activities such as playing games like soccer and table tennis among other games. Therefore, in order to have full realization in early stages development of these children, it is essential for children to busy doing various activities either with other children, teachers or parents and caretakers. This would help to generate different ideas from others, hence, helpful in their early childhood development. The process of development of younger children at their tender ages mostly depends on age and experience. Hence, the process of development should be gradual as children need time in order for them to acquire these developments. For instance, Kelly, (2012), through his document on early childhood, recorded that proper interaction of children at early stages substantially depends on their ages. Younger children of below twelve years do not interact as compared to children above the age of twelve. Therefore, these children gains more experience and ideas between nine to twelve years because during this period, they interact more and gain a lot. Therefore, according to him, in order for children to develop fully in their mind, they need to have enough time together, which depends on various interactions among them. Moreover, teachers and parents should make sure that they allow these groups of young people to interact in different areas such as activities, and class work among others. On the other hand, Bentley, (2012), who also focuses on the importance of children development at their early age, explains that in order for teachers and parents to help children gain required talent and development during their early stages. Therefore, parents need to decide on the play and interaction. For instance, the document shows that it is essential for these children to involve in certain activities at a given age, hence, controls the form of interaction they involve in at any given time. Playing dates becomes one of the fundamental aspects in children during early ages of development. Therefore, younger children below one year should involve in various activities like playing with toys for a period because, at that age, children spend most of their time sleeping. Other children of above fife years should engage in other more advance interactions such as playing computer games and other class discussions. Another importance of children interaction in discussion and other forms of play is that it helps in the brain and physical development as explained by Krechvsky, (2012). According to the document, involvement of children in various activities such brainstorming is advantageous because they will be able to develop their thinking and understanding capacity. Guidance of these children should make sure that they encourage their children in having various discussions among themselves in order to develop such understanding. Moreover, they should make sure that their children involves in activities which they are interested in. By encouraging children to participate in various activities, they like will help guidance and teachers to have an idea on some of the areas their children are talented in, therefore, they later specialize in such areas? For instance, if a child is interested in football, it is advisable for the child to be taken to football academy in order for him or her develop skills in their areas of interest. Therefore, in order to have full understanding on the importance of children’s interaction, it would be better to conduct a research on environmental education program on children in order to find out changes in children’s attitude and practices over changes. Previous Research on the Top: Various researches have been conducted on the topic by various personalities in research field. According to most of the research, information collected and analyzed does not reflect the actual information on the ground. This may have been triggered by various reasons. For instance, most of the researches used wrong approach in conducting their research (Kelly, 2012). This may have been through wrong choice of research methodologies. Therefore, because these factors are well considered in this research, it will generate accurate information that would be helpful for teachers, children, parents and the community as large. Methodologies Used in the Previous Researches: In order o for any research to generate accurate information, it is important for a good research methodology to be chosen wisely. Therefore, various factors such as the target group, topic of the research, time need for the research to be conducted should be looked at. In the past research, researches mostly relayed on questionnaires, where they form question for teachers on the behaviours of children in relation o discussion (Saito, 2012). Through this, most of the findings were not accurate as they did not have direct contacts with the children themselves. Therefore, choice of the method to be used in the study is important for the research to be conducted wisely. Findings of the Previous Research on Children: According to information provided by previous researches, it was discovered that interaction through discussion of children is important to both parents, teaches and the community but should be done at some ages (Reyes, 2012). For instance, children below five years are not able to interact more compared to children above the same age. Therefore, according to them, discussion and interaction should be done at certain age for them to have better result that can bring change. Moreover, they discovered that through discussion, children have easy time in developing their skills. Hence, the practice is good for brain development. Problems Encounters in Previous Research: In the previous research, there are few problems that were encounters. Researchers had difficult time in coming up with the questionnaires as the most of the information had to come from teachers but not children themselves. Problem of comparing and interpreting information gathered also became a problem because it was difficult for to compare different information provided as they depend on the level of understanding of the teachers (Penn, 2012). In addition, researches had the problem of travelling as most of the targeted areas were remote and were still under development making travelling from one location to another much difficult. On the other hand, information produced by the previous research was not accurate and it was difficult to put them into practice. General Comment: Due to various approaches used in the previous researches that led to the production of inaccurate results, it is important for researches done currently to come up with better approaches that would help in production of accurate information based on facts. Therefore, researchers will be required to formulate questions that are easy to understand in order to give participants easy time in answering the questions (Bentley, 2012). After the conduction of research, they need to put final conclusion of the research into practice by teaching people on the importance of the findings. On the other hand, they should also provide some of the demerits of the findings on the topic in order to give people the right direction in applying the information provided. PART B Structure of the Literature Review: Research Question: The research question is the importance of encouraging children to engage in a meaningful discussion in order to revisit their ideas. This is a particularly beneficial approach in developing a better understanding among children as the participants, community and researches as well. Benefits of the Study: To Participants (Children and Teachers): During early childhood it is important for children to involve in discussion in order to have skills development. Through the interaction of these children at childhood, they will be able to develop exemplary relations among them by understanding one another no matter their backgrounds (Chen, 2012). In the process of interaction, these children have the opportunity of gathering new skills from other children, hence, facilitate better understanding among them. Moreover, through interactions, children will develop physically as some interaction will require them to apply physical strength. Moreover, children’s interaction in schools is important to teachers because it give them the chance to learn on how to understand and interact with children. To Society: When this process of good relationship is created among children during their interaction, it will help to encourage better society for these children in years to come. Moreover, through the interaction, they are capable of gathering new ideas because they will be interacting with different persons from different cultural background, hence, helps in eradication cases of racism, tribalism and class differences within the society (Reyes, 2012). Therefore, this is an appropriate research that would help to avoid certain negative issues within the societies. Methodology for the Study: Observation: For the research to have better findings on the issues addressed, it is vital for the process of conducting research to be considered. Using a better methodology would help in collecting data that are relevant to study in order to come up appropriate result after the analysis of the collected data. Therefore, during the research process, types of methodology that would be applied are quantitative methodology (Chen, 2012). Therefore, in order for this method to be appropriate, it is beneficial for the researches to consider the best approach that would help them collect the required data. Hence, because the target group is children, the best method of data collection is an observation, which is the process of data collection whereby a group of researchers to visit different schools, homes and children care centres and observe various impacts of such discussions to the children. This method is appropriate because researchers will be able to study how different children respond from different questions during the discussion. Some of their understanding on the issues tackle during the discussion will be visible. Time and Process of Data Collection: During the research process, three schools and including a children care centre, where I currently work, will be visited starting from 8.00am to 2.00pm by the researchers for a period of three months. Then, different groups of children of different ages in the area visited to be grouped together in order to involve them in various discussions on different topics. In the process, researches will make sure that they follow such discussion keenly by concentration on various responses of the group members (Deiner, 2012). This will help them to gather information on the level of concentration among certain ages as they relate to others. Therefore, their reactions and respond will be noted at specific time in order to note their reactions at different time of the day. Researches will also be able to note and compare the level of participation among different children depending on their ages. Moreover, researches need to select a group of children between nine to twelve years and provide them with a story then later ask those questions about the storyline. Through this approach, the researchers will be able to note the level of their understanding in order to come up with appropriate findings. The process should be conducted for a period of three months before data analysis is done. Ethical Implications of the Research During the research process, there are some ethical concerns that researchers need to consider during the information gathering. For instance, the search is based on random selection of children of different ages and background. In such scenario, they will be able to gather different information as per level of understand of the people involve. One of the challenges that researches need to take care during the process is that information receive from the participants may not be based on facts, but their level of understanding as they are from a different area with different levels of understanding (Bhavya, 2007). Another ethical implication is that, in order to avoid mix reactions, they need to choose a common question during their research period for them to generate accurate information from the participants. For instance, if they provide questions that only concentrate on one communities, other participants from other communities will not be able to participate in the discussion not because they not active but due to less information pertaining the matter. Therefore, a general issue that is understandable by various people need to be considered in order to provide equal opportunity to the participants. Data Analysis and Interpretation: After making sure that the process of data collection is as per the requirements of the research, it is essential for the gathered data to go through its analysis. This is the process of studying the collected data for proper findings to be drawn from the collected data. Therefore, after data collection, researchers need to put together all the information from the collection and compare these data one after the other depending on the areas covered during data collection (Penn, 2008). After thorough comparison and analysis, they need to put the final results into writing that summarises their conclusion from the research. By following this due process in conducting research, researchers will be in the position of coming up with real findings of the topic covered because the information provided will be from a genuine source. Therefore, it is advisable for researches to follow a better procedure in order to have smooth conduction of their research, which will trigger better findings. Applications of the Research Findings: After the analysis of data from the research, results will be drawn in order to in order to be used in various ways. For instance, through the findings, researches will be able to learn and understand various ways in dealing with children (Chen, 2012). Therefore, they will be able to visit various homes and schools in order to provide teaching to teachers and communities on the importance of children’s interactions. Through this, it would help in creating a good society; govern through good relation, which will help to avoid various conflicts within the society in the future. Moreover, the research will be used to encourage communities to allow their children to interact with other children from different communities so as to understand various ways of life pertaining cultural practices. Strength and Weaknesses of the Study and Methodology to be used: The process of choosing observation as the best method of the research has various impacts to the study. For instance, through observation, researchers will have the opportunity of having direct contacts with the participants and be able to analyse their participation. Through this, they will be able to understand the participant in order to draw better conclusion from them (Chen, 2012). It is also the best method of data collection. This is because it is convenient, for instance, decision making as instant results can be obtained during the time of discussion. On the other hand, observation has some negative impact on the research because information gathered through observation can reflect the correct information because some of the children may have full information about the matter in question but due to other factors such as being shy make the children not to able to participate during the discussion, which may not be realized by the researches. Moreover, information got through observation may be difficult to analyse and interpret. Conclusion: Early childhood education is beneficial for children at their tender age in developing their brain capacity. During the period, it is advisable for these children to be given full attention in order for them to involve in development in various areas. Therefore, they should involve in various activities, play being the main activity for the development of their physical growth. Apart from play, these children should also involve in various activities such as interaction with other children through discussion, which develop their understanding.
