E-etudent library project proposal History and current status French Institute of Technology is based in Washington DC. Since the number of students in the institution is increasing, there is a need to avail the books online, to all the students on different campuses. These campuses include Washington DC, Boston, Denver, New York City and Montreal. The researcher seeks to develop a system where the books shall be availed online, in order to ensure easy and free accessibility to the students on different campuses. Although there existed an e-tudiant system, the previous version faces many challenges. If the challenges are overcome, the student shall escape the fines that prevent them from graduating. Also, the previous system did not contain the books in the full version. This becomes the primary problem that needs to be solved because it has led to the limited accessibility of the books and information.
Proposal
The primary goal of the project is to ensure accessibility of learning materials to students and other scholars affiliated with the French institute of technology and affiliate institutions. This is by increasing the availability of the books to all students, especially the ones located in remote campuses.
Development
The project is all about taking learning materials online where they will be easily and quickly accessed by many people from remote places. The project will involve scanning of books and posting them the institution platform where they will be easily accessed.
Steps
The initial phase is to develop a website with a user-friendly interface. It should be easy to update the website. In this site, previous sources of books shall be integrated into the new site. The next step shall be the search of more materials from publishers and writers. The collected materials will be scanned and stored as Read-only-files (Baumbach et al., 306).
When the site is completed, the current students shall be registered, followed by continuous registration of members who shall join the affiliate institutions. After a given period, the site will be open to the public. For a person to access the library, they have to register and get login details that will be used every time they want to access the site. This privilege will be available after payment of registration fee. The fee shall be less than one dollar, in order to ensure the institution will have adequate funds for system maintenance. There shall be continuous updating of the materials, which shall entail uploading of the latest edition of the books and publications. The last step will be making the site available in different languages, in order to make it popular to the global audience (Stromberg et al., 177).
