This is a sectioned scholarship paper Question one I desire to pursue a degree program in electrical engineering, which is my major. This program aligns with my plans in life in a number of ways. It offers me the platform to advance my studies, hence empowering me to lead a better life as education is power. Therefore, successful funding of this program shall give me the capacity to concentrate on my studies, thus gaining commendable grades. I am committed to giving my education quality time as I desire to become a competent electrical engineer who can solve distinct problems in the field. I also look forward to finding attachments during my holidays, and whenever I have time with the intention of getting experience, thus strengthening my success in the this field. Getting this scholarship promises me the ability to complete this program as it secures my financial stability. Consequently, I shall get a perfect opportunity of finding my dream job in an electrical engineering firm. Once I get a job, I aspire to join other engineers in advancing the field of electrical engineering. I want to play a role in improving the society, through provision of better technologies that improve the standards of living. Additionally, the world is in need of more professionals, especially my country of origin. Therefore, this program serves to position me at a level that I can use to benefit the global world. Question two I have successfully completed calculus and physics courses. These courses play a key role in my pursuit of electrical engineering as they have given me the basic skills required to undertake the program successfully. The courses have enlightened me on many areas covered in electrical engineering, including basic components of structures and skills for computing and understanding variables and their interactions within and around a structure. Through these courses, I have also been exposed to many analysis skills, which play a key role in understanding the operations conducted by electrical engineers. These will enable me perform excellently as the skills make it easier to comprehend the field of engineering through exposure to diverse concepts and principles applicable to this field. Physics, for example, assists me in understanding the different laws that apply in electrical engineering (Dutta 390). The knowledge gained in these courses provides me with a solid base for my undergraduate program. They have equipped me with the basics that contribute greatly to understanding the concepts applied in the electrical engineering program. These skills shall make my coursework easy to understand, thus allowing me to enjoy my time in university. Consequent to this, I remain optimistic of my ability to pursue this program to completion as I have a strong foundation. Question three The fascination I had when I set foot in America shaped my dream career. The fact that my own country knows less than half of what America knows in the electrical field keeps me motivated. I have a strong urge to keep on furthering my knowledge. I want to equip myself with as much knowledge as the world can offer me. I want to be among the experts who drive this industry as it gives me satisfaction to know that I can move to any place once I am equipped with this knowledge, thus play a vital point in promoting the well-being of the society. Somalia is my country of origin. A nation characterized by war and bloodshed. The developments in the country are quite few as the people spend most of their time fighting, and worrying about being attacked. This has caused the country to lag behind in several developments that make the world a better place to live in. This applies to technological advancements, such as electricity as many rural villages in Somalia do not have a clue of this type of energy. The few machines used in the villages run on remote energy, which accounts for several inefficiencies. Having been lucky to get to the United States from a refugee camp in Kenya, which neighbors Somalia gave me an opportunity to experience a different world. When I got to America, the advancements in technology puzzled me. I delighted in the electrical lighting all over the different places. The different machines that were run on electricity made me desire to learn how the systems functioned, and how they were maintained. The fact that the machines solved numerous problems efficiently inspired me to get conversant with the machines. More to these, the differences in operations between my country and America compelled me to make a change for the many people who live unaware of how technology can improve their lives. This stems from my mission in life to better people’s lives, just as the U.S. government gave me a better life, by offering me settlement in its nation. These desires pushed me to pursue electrical engineering. Question four Given my ability to learn quickly, I have contributed immensely to my community. When I got to America, I took the step of learning English as my second language, until, I successfully managed to learn to write, as well as read the English language. I took this course because I realized that my success or failure in America depended on my mastery of the English skills. This has also allowed me to serve as a leader of an informal group, which seeks to better the lives of other refugees, just like me. I play the role of encouraging the refugees to enroll in college, and learn the English language. I assist those who become faint hearted in pursuing the course as nothing comes easily to any man. More to these, the informal group allows me to reach to more people than I would have without joining the informal group. Consequent to this, I pride in enlightening the people to strive for a better future. These efforts have made many of the people who feared to enroll in educational institutions to take the step of joining school. In addition, most of them have been resilient in pursuing the courses, leading to an informed community. Question five Having been born in a country where regard for education is not a priority, I have always strived to beat all odds, and pursue my education to the highest level. I am passionate about education, because I realize that it is the key to greater success. More to this, the opportunity to settle in America brightened my life, as I was sure that I would fulfill my educational goals. Therefore, any opportunity that comes my way to study meets a dedicated mind that concentrates on bearing the best educational fruits. Given other responsibilities in life, such as a young family to take care of, life gets tough at times. However, I always maintain a spirit of resilience in all the things I do. I dedicate myself to providing a decent life for my family, and I believe in investing in their education. I work on setting the pace for the people I associate with as influence contributes greatly to molding the people one relates to. Therefore, I integrate the principles of accountability, dignity and integrity in all my undertakings. Leadership forms part of me as I find myself leading in most of the places to which I go. I respect other people, and am a humble person who loves to listen to the opinions of other people, instead of domineering them. I also possess excellent organizational skills, and stand in defense of the rights of the less privileged in society. In addition, I am an analytical person that bears a keen eye for details. This means I can easily identify unique issues in any activities, leading to better decision making. I have a tendency for promoting quality work, as I am keen in most of the activities I engage in. Additionally, I enjoy playing basketball as it helps me in keeping fit, which plays a crucial role in boosting my daily operations. I also enjoy swimming as the sport promotes my ability to relax after a long day of work, thus keeping me refreshed. Works cited Dutta, Debashis. Textbook of Engineering Mathematics.
