Better Sole to Life 0 Introduction and History of the organization Better Sole to Life is an organization located in the in 1127 black hook street. This is a social work organization that seeks to help the women inmates to raise their living standards. The organization aims at the provision and offering of education and entire upgrading of inmates’ lives while they are in prison. The organization also strives to provide educational incentives to the inmates to enable them get access to basic education services. The initiatives that the organization has always offered to most of the prison inmates in Houston Texas have been noticed due to the impact and change in the social lives of the inmates in the State (Staples, 24). 1.1 The Problem Facing the Organization Being an organization that strives to improve the social life style of inmates, the provision of these services has been a great challenge to the organization owing to the fact that most of their economic programs have been crippled by the insufficiency of funds. Therefore, the problem that the organization is seeking help for is the lack of sufficient funds to increase the effectiveness in the delivery of these services to the inmates, in most prisons. 1.2 The Possible Solution to the Problem The solution to the problem is to source finances from other organizations, well-wishers and donor organization. Consequently, the organization may need to engage in other income generating activities that will enhance its deliverance of its programs and services to the inmates. 2.0 The Programs of the Organization To realize and meet the endeavors of the organization and increase the efficiency of the operations, the organization will set the persons responsible for every activity, assign the objectives with appropriate manpower to realize the goals, allocate resources to the projects of the programs, outline the framework of the programs, give incentives to the viable projects and finally assess the situation at hand for every project. 2.1 The Community and City Demographics The communities where the organization is located are composed of people with relatively high affluence. The moderate affluence levels have been linked to the increased inmates in the prisons due to the occurrences of many and frequent crimes. The city’s population is approximately 1,250,554 people. The population of Houston Texas is composed by the blacks at 22.7%, whites at 25.9%, Hispanic at 44.4%, Asian at 5.5%, American Indian at 0.2% and other races at 1.3%. The community has been linked with high rates of juveniles on violent sex. Due to mixed races in the region, the rates of crimes have been very rampant including women and juveniles. This implies that the populations of the women inmates have radically increased. 3.0 The participants on the proposed projects Better Sole to Life as an organization has many proposed projects that will run in line with its programs. As such, it would be apt that it engages the right composition of participants into the projects so as to enhance their success. There is a management staff in the organization that is mandated with the responsibility of monitoring the applicability and efficiency of the initiatives. From management’s perspective, the board identifies and assigns the relevant and well equipped personnel to initiate all the programs and activities in the project. 3.1 Facilities and resources The organization operates in a mansion house, in 1127 Black Hook Street. This building includes 3 small rooms partitioned for coordination of the projects and 1 large, condominium office where all the activities, initiatives and projects are assessed, analyzed and evaluated progressively. Other offices are located in the cities and towns within the state as branches and sub-branches. Apart from these the organization’s facilities range from basic office machines such as computers among others, and cars for the coordination of operations to other branches. 3.2 Staffing of the Organization The organization has a management structure that is systematized by a board committed to the comprehension of the objectives of the group. The manager of the organization is currently, Mr. Tim Boyce, who before 2011 was a junior officer of branch manager in one of the branches in the state. This was until 2011 when he was crowned for the position of the manager due to his devotion to the organization. There are department managers in the organization, as well, who work to help in the achievement of the organization’s goals. 4.0 Board of Directors Better Sole to Life organization has 10 members in the board. The composition of the board comprises of social workers and personnel who are members of the local community-based organizations, churches and schools in Texas. The board also comprises of the prison representatives, who are up to the task of supervising the organization’s operations in the prisons. 5.0 Budget of the Organization The expenditure of the organization is determined by the activities to be undertaken. The organization currently runs on 12.3 million USD. This efficiently covered the service that the women prisoners could require. Though there were shortages in the operations, they were not as intense as in the current status. The budget is to cover all the prisons in the state. This has indicated an increase in the number of the women inmates; therefore, the organization has the challenge. The money that we seek to get from the donor organizations are to be used for delivering the education incentives to the other prisons as the number of women inmates have drastically increased. The numbers have increased by almost a third of the original number. Thus, the organization looks forward to source 4.5 million USD to help in providing services to the increased number of women inmates (Browne-Marshall, 407). 6.0 Additional Information The operations of the organization depend on the collaboration with other establishments with analogous interests in prisons and in the empowering of women.
