Dotting the ‘i’ in Education Introduction Tablet devices are wireless gadgets that are portable. They may be a personal computerpreferably a laptop or a phone with a touch screen interface. The tablet device is always and usually smaller than notebooks and the textbooks that are used in schools. These tablets have classifications and students and school going children can use the type that fits their kind of education and one that they can afford. We have the convertible kind which is basically allows the input from the user through various methods. We have the slate tablet which is also referred to as the ipad.It has a touch screen unit which and does not have a key board. Lastly, there is the rugged tablet that can stand all the rough handling by the students. They have hard drives that are usually shock protected. Some people argue that the tablet devices should replace the books that learners use in their classrooms. Using the tablets may have various disadvantages to the learners like the costs. Some of them are expensive and not each parent can afford to buy for their children. Background The tablet devices may have their advantages but some people choose to be against it. In the world today, the education system has been in the recent years become technological. Many learners now are able to use computers at school and at home. Looking at the question of using the traditional books that almost all the schools use, some parents and mostly students find it very hectic to move around carrying bags to schools. Some of the bags are very heavy and may cause the students to acquire diseases of the lower back. Both the books and the tablet devices have their advantages and the disadvantages. From the kindergarten to most universities in the world today, tablet devices are playing the biggest role in the education system. An example is the University of Mississippi which decided to acquire 4G devices which are Samsung models for their honor students. In addition to that, children as young as four and five years in elementary schools are being equipped with tablets for their efficient learning. A big manufacturing company called VINCI has made tablets for toddlers. The toddlers use the ragged type of tablet. For this reason, many children in the world today grow up with the knowledge and the like of using tablets. The tablets may enhance their urge for going to school. With the use of tablets in schools, students are able to prepare themselves to the 21st century workforce which uses the tablets for the smooth running of their work. Tablet devices may be seen as very costly as compared to the traditional books. Other than that, they have advantages to the parents and the learners. First of all, the tablet devices have apps. The apps are important and very efficient because whether the device ids pointed to the sky or else where, the educational apps make learning fun for many kids especially those in the elementary level. In the classroom settings, the use of the apps can be used by tutors who will give the learners the curiosity to learn more. The apps are use as a research tool for all the students especially in colleges (Jarrett and Su 25). If one compares the tablets and the traditional books, it is evident that the books are not very interesting and many learners don’t find it very interesting to use them in a classroom setting. Secondly, the tablet devices bring about interactiveness among the learners and all the teachers .The use of the tablets that were used in the 20th century like the computers have video games that mostly bring the learners together. As a result for this, they learn and most of them think very differently. For a classroom to have very interactive lesson, they need to have tablets which engage the students and thus giving them interactive experiences. These experiences cannot be found when the students just use books in the class. The tutor needs to have outside class activities in order for them to interact with the students. This does not bring about the fun in the learning environment. The exercises of spoken word is important for the children who want to speak fluently (Elster 237). The use of tablets can help in this sector. Thirdly, the importance and advantage of using the tablet devices is that they are very portable. Learners can move around with ease when carrying the devices to schools. The books are very heavy for the learners. The weight later can cause diseases of the back. They carry bags to schools that are very heavy. To improve the health of most of the learners, the use of tablet devices should be put in mind. In the traditional setting of the classroom, the idea of the students sitting in rows facing each other has been wiped by the use of tablets un a classroom setting. The use of the tablets gives the learners enough freedom to adjust to each activity in the classroom with much ease. They use the devices very remotely. The use of books did not provide the students with the freedom they needed for most of their activities in the class. Some people who are against the use of tablets say that the freedom of the students due to the use of tablet5s may cause a lot of destruction. With the guide of tutors, the students can not be destructed because they are used to the tablets. The students who usually get destructed are those that don’t use the tablets at all times. Due to their portability, they are very suitable for tutorials in colleges and universities (West 3). In addition to that, the tablets have E books which are digital on the tablet devices. These digital books have very immersive and interactive kind of a reading experience. Instead of most parents buying text books for their children, they can get the books on the internet. This reduces the cost of buying the hard books that most schools still use. To add to that, the E- books are portable and very convenience to the students that read them. The books help many college students to save a lot of money. Many colleges across the world are working on a plan of doing away with the hard books. Students can also use tablets while typing their notes since they cannot be lost easily. The devices have automatic file recoveries suitable for their use in the classroom (West 104). Finally, the advantage of the tablets over hard books is that they bring about collaboration. With each student having their own tablet, they are able to meet online through the social net works, blogs and wikis. These tools provide venues at which the students can interact and share educational matters. The cloud based tools like Google documents help in improve the intellectual capabilities of the students. With the devices, they are encouraged to read widely and thus improve their grades. In class, every minute matters and it has to be utilized well. Doug and atkins230.collaboration can bring about less time wastage at any stage of education. Conclusion With the rise in the use of the tablet devices and the apps, the tablet devices will be a major player in the education sector world over. It is vital to note that many countries world over have collaborated the use of tablets in their learning system. Instead of the students buying books which are bulky and may not interest some learners, the tablets are underway to solve the problems. The elementary level of education is very critical in a child’s growth. The use of tablets make the children want to be in school all the time because of their interactive nature. Colleges and universities use the internet more often and thus the tablets [play a key role in any kind of education system in the world today.
