Task: Embry-riddle and Stetson Every or any other matriculation across the globe has its own history, teaching styles, specific faculties, students types, as well as, academic progress. Florida is one of the states in the US with flourishing high class and best ranked universities in the world. Two of the several Florida are Embry-riddle and Stetson Universities. This essay will look into the succinct analysis of the two universities, using different aspects. To begin with, the geographical locations of the two colleges are different. Embry-riddle has two main campuses located at Prescott in Arizona, and the other at Daytona in Florida. The two campuses have traditional settings, which are quite different from the current settings. Embry-riddle has also gone some steps ahead to identify start up worldwide campus networks. It consists of more than 150 campuses. The campuses are in different locations around the world. For instance, in the US, Europe, Canada, and Middle East. The university also offers online study programs where lecturing and evaluations are done online, and students awarded with recognized and official degrees. Stetson University, on the other hand, has two satellite centers and two campuses. The satellite centers are located in Central Florida across the I-4 corridor. The college of Law has its location Petersburg, SU Center at the Celebration, which is next to Orlando and Tampa Law Center in Downtown Tampa. College of Arts and Sciences has its location at Deland campus, which is a historic site since it was where the university was first found and built in 1883. School of Music and Business Administration are also located at the Deland campus. Concerning the faculties, Embry-Riddle concentrates on the teaching of aerospace and aeronautical engineering. The university is also referred to as, “Embry-Riddle University” (Embry-Riddle University). The other main courses taught at the university are technology, science, and aviation and aerospace management. Curriculum involving these courses research, engineering, operation, marketing, manufacturing, and modern aircraft management. The university boasts of its top ranked training programs, as well as, its engineering programs. In the university, every degreed that is offered has a connection to aviation field. However, the science and technological knowledge that one learns can be applied elsewhere in the appropriate fields. There are more than 35-degree programs in the university’s two campuses (Embry-Riddle). There are also non-degree and graduate programs offered at the university. Stetson concentrates mainly on law, arts, sciences, and music. There are also graduate studies in the university. The Law school has gone a step further to partner with the Second Court of Appeal of Florida. There is also Deland community, which is concerned with the continuing education program, which includes Pastors School and other professional, and enrichment programs. There is also High Achieving Talented Students (HATS). It involves enrichment programs, and above level testing. DeLand community also has Choral Union, which serves the role of bringing together students and other singers from the surrounding community. The application procedures for the two colleges are also different and similar, at the same time. The two accept both regular and early decision systems. With Stetson, the deadline for the early decision application is always in November 1, while that for priority or early decision applicants is on 15 March. However, applications are still allowed even after that time. Those who would like to secure their space definitely apply on time. Application fees for all the applicants are paid online. This means that applicants who do the online applications must have online accounts for with the university. They should sign up at the university’s website. This is common with the two universities. The history of the two also differs. Embry-Riddle has gone ahead to establish accessible aviation historical resources for the university. This is meant to keep the legacy of the university alive. The university collects, as well as, archives documents, memorabilia, artifacts, and photographs that mainly tells the story of Embry-Riddle from the ancient or earliest days when it was a flight school at Cincinnati, Ohio. Stetson, on the other hand, boasts of being the first private university in the entire Florida State to be granted Phi Better Kappa Chapter is regarded as the most prestigious undergraduate honors in the US (Embry-riddle). The college of law was the first one in Florida State. It was also the first law school that admitted women in Florida. The school of business administration in the university was the first one to be established in Florida. The same is the case with the school of Music. It is also the home of the first Floridian newspaper. Another important component of history of the university is Christine Lynn and Eugene M Business center was the first structure/building in the entire Florida to get the certification of a green building by the Green Building Council of the US under the leadership in Energy, as well as, Environmental Design (LEED). Stetson was also the home to the first college model senate program in the State. It also had the first and popular collegiate theatrical company in the State. All universities must have some activities that portray the kind of lifestyle that students live in the campus. The mission of Stetson, regarding the division of the campus life, is always to provide various international experiences, as well as, services that facilitate the learning of students and development, as well. The committee and department in charge, ensures the creation of safe, empowering, and inclusive environment that ultimately enrich the campus (Stetson University). The student at Stetson offers resources, services, and information for empowering themselves towards the achievement of excellence and success in their studies and beyond. Students are assisted in becoming academically and civically engaged. They are also trained to become critical thinkers, as well as, the confidence required in them to meet their goals and realize their goals and dreams. Based on gender, Stetson students comprise many women compared to Embry-Riddle. The reason behind this is undoubtedly the courses offered in the two institutions. Most female students do not prefer technical courses involving too much practice. For instance, it is rarer to find 10 female students in a class of forty engineering or aviation class. The reverse always applies for colleges that major mainly in humanities. Following this, it is indisputably true that student life at Stetson has much fun compared to that at Embry-Riddle. Technical subjects always require a lot of time and attention to read and understand. This makes them very hard among students, especially women, who like too much fun to cooperate and enjoy themselves as they study. There is little fun at Embry-Riddle. Another reason for this, from the website, is on the absence of co-curricular activities on the website home page. On Stetson University website, athletics is mentioned as the fourth tab at the top of the webpage (Stetson University). This is an indication that there is more fun for students in Stetson compared to those in Embry-Riddle. Embry-Riddle takes underscores on the necessity of diversity initiatives. They include training of the university’s Human Resource ‘manager, organization of clubs, beach committee at Daytona and Prescott committee. Another initiative that the university has taken so far is to ensure that the issue of age, gender, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation and disability. This is an initiative by the university to ensure that people who ate on church stop. From the above elaborations, it is lucid that universities do differ due to different reasons as illustrated above.
