Gentile TaxonomyIntroductionThe Gentile's form of classification has two dimensions namely the environment context and the function of the action aspect (Millsla, n.d). The performance environment is further divided into two main categories which include the open and the closed environment. The closed one refers to a stimulus that remains stationary in space and time when one is performing an act. Example of a closed performance environment includes the gym, a quiet room, and a chair. The open environment refers to a stimulus that can change or move in space and time when performing a task.

The best examples of an open performance environment include seating on a bus that is in motion, catching a ball, and walking in a hall with a crowded audience. The main element of the open environment is the need to make predictions. There are two types of intertrial variability of performance. These include no intertribal and intertribal variability (Millsla, n.d). The former means that the performance remains fixed and closed while the latter means that the performance changes although it remains closed.

The desired outcome is considered based on body stability and body transport. Stability refers to keeping the desired outcome by ensuring the line of gravity remains within the base, while transport refers to moving the body between locations to attain the desired outcome. The paper describes the elements of Gentile taxonomy by using simple tasks like walking in different environments and shows how the classification can improve the learning outcome. Application of the classification modelThis section will focus on walking in different environments like treadmills, stairs, holding hands, and linoleum to the carpet.

While walking to the carpet from the linoleum, the task is classified under the environmental closed. Besides, it falls under stationary intertribal variability. When considered from the desired outcome, it falls under the body transport with no manipulation. However, when considering walking from a hall going up the stairs, the performance falls under the same consideration as the difference in the body transport, which must be grouped under manipulation. Walking on the treadmill using an escalator will fall under the open environmental condition with motion and no intertribal variability.

Besides, it falls under body transport with no manipulation under the desired outcome segment. The last aspect of walking is while holding hands on the treadmill. This task falls under the open environment context but is still under motion with no intertrial variability. However, for the desired outcome, it falls under the manipulation in the body transport segment. Improving learning outcomes taxonomy enables the learner to perform higher and improve their skills whenever they use the classification later when compared with the previous instances (Millsla, n.d). The taxonomy can be used to ensure there is consistency so that one can assess the similarity between different performances.

The element of persistence as well can be used improved using the classification by ensuring that the skills gained by the learner last over time. Besides, the element of adaptability can be nurtured using the taxonomy by ensuring that the performances are adaptable to the characteristics of various performances. The model can enable the learner to perform other activities thereby reducing the demand for attention.
