Junior High School versus Middle School Junior High School versus Middle School Question one: a) The model junior high school model is the best. It allows the students to socialize, have standard classes and places them at a better position to learn from one another through socialization.b) Strengths:In the junior high school, the children spend more years with their tutors. The situation allows them to develop deep understanding of their needs and strengths thus helping and supporting their learning.
The older students can model the complicated approaches towards a problem, and assist the younger children in accomplishing the assignments that they require assistance. On the other hand, the middle school model allows the students to interact within their scope and develop academic relationship among themselves. Weaknesses: On the contrary, through the junior high school model, the younger students may face difficult times trying to solve problems that re beyond their scope. In the middle school model, the students do not have a chance to develop socially with the other students from the advanced classes.
Question two:a) Possibly, due to the junior high school model, the students can identify their areas of interest at the early ages and start working to realize their dreams. However, the clusters based on self-chosen electives may lead the students to make wrong choices due to peer pressure. As per the middle school model, the teachers and students can develop well-organized schedules to guide the learning process. Conversely, the fixed times may develop fixed mindsets in the younger children making them difficult to adjust when moving to the junior high schools.b) i) The teams can group the students into clusters of 25, they then teach them different subjects in a rotational manner after every hour. ii) They can also teach them as one team but allocating one hour per subject area.
Question three:a) i) In the junior model, there is a specialization of what the teams intend to teach the students since they are professionals meeting to discuss issues in the same subject area. Nevertheless, a single department may perform better compared to others leading to preference of one subject. Such preference may cause poor performance.ii) In the middle school model, there is a collective focus on the students leading to a common focus on what areas to tackle regarding the children.
In contrast, some teachers may fail to take part in the processes as they collectively make suggestions and decisions due to lack of specified responsibilities. b) Always, the teachers bring new strategies to tackle the challenges that the children face. Therefore, it is important for them to continue meeting daily to help them identify and solve problems that face the students.Question four:a) i) Concentrating on the content does not allow the students to gain the hands-on skills needed to solve the life challenges.
Rather, they equip the children with the mastery of the material to achieve high scale of education. ii) The middle school model allows the students to develop skills that will help them relate the subjects that they learn. On the contrary, they limit the children from learning more due to the short practice sessions.b) The students will learn to handle questions based on the instructions rather than developing skills that can guide them in solving the daily challenges. Question five:a) i) The method of electives allows the students to have an added advantage as they can choose and learn new things besides those offered during class hours.
However, the method has a disadvantage since they limit the children on the electives they offer, hence, limiting one’s choices. ii) The wide varieties offered allow the children to choose their areas of interest helping them to have new skill imparted into them. However, the limit based on the skills of the teachers denies the students a chance to explore skills that the teacher does not embody (Dhuey, 2013).b) Photography and academic film appreciation Question six:a) i) In the junior high school setup, the physical education classes enhance the health of the student.
Limiting the period to one semester makes the student dormant over the other semesters increasing the risk of disease.ii) The daily of every-other-day is essential for the physical fitness of the younger children and help them develop varied skill. However, the exercises may make students tied and not accomplish their academic goals.b) Aiming at the reduction of costs may cost the education system, as the student may be prone to disease, which might lead to missed classes.ReferenceDhuey, E.
