Journal Review-chapter 5 Affiliation: The information about the assessments was very interesting and appealing. The reading presents very simple points to use in assessments of children but they seem to be effective even in a difficult and less liked subject like science. The assessment tools and strategies presented will ensure an understanding of the children’s science knowledge and what can be done to improve that for the students who still have difficulty not only understanding but retaining the memory a long time after it is taught (Content, Bass & Carin, 2014).

The fact that the teacher will use very little effort in the assessments but get great rewarding information is a reason to try out the provided assessment tips. The chapter explains the different types of assessments and which are to be used at different times of the lesson. These assessment strategies will ensure that the teacher not only engages but monitors the student from before imparting the knowledge to way later after being taught to gauge the understanding of it. I can use the assessment strategies as well to monitor the progress of my students.

The reading further explains the need for observation of the students keenly of what they are reading and writing in their books as this will further provide ideas about the interests of the student in that subject. Based on the reading, it is important for me to engage in traditional techniques of assessments where multiple choice is used as a way of testing the skills, abilities, and knowledge of students towards a particular subject.
