FILM MAKING AND PHOTOGRAPHY Film Making and Photography Filmmaking and photography has been existence for many years and as time advances, it is gaining more popularity and acceptance as a career. However, filmmaking and photography is seemingly well accepted and established in relatively few countries. In some countries such as Kuwait, filmmaking and photography as a career is still to gain acceptance and there are significantly few people in such regions that lay consideration and readily accept it as a core career.

Although I am highly passionate about film production and photography, it is quite challenging to convince my people back home in Kuwait that film making and photography is an excellent career choice for me. This can be attributed to the fact that it is seemingly impossible to advance such a career based at Kuwait. However, over the years, film production is gaining acceptance, though at a slow rate, and recently I am getting a bit of support from the significantly few people that perceive it as a good career choice worth pursuing.

Nevertheless, amid all these challenges I am highly passionate about filmmaking and aspire to one day achieve my dreams. Therefore, I am doing my level best including putting forth the best efforts to excel in filmmaking and photography. Decisions revolving around career choices are among the most important decisions in peoples’ lives. However, making the right decision is relatively difficult for many. This can be attributed to the fact that career decisions made at a young age while surrounded by many influencing factors such as people around us.

However even at such a young age there are things we value more and this can guide career choices. For me, my unending passion and determination to perfect the art of filmmaking and photography is my major guide and driving force towards a successful career. Since career choices are bound to affect our whole lives, it is important to consider several things in order to avoid making the wrong decision. For example, it is important to evaluate oneself and base the career decision on things that matter the most o an individual.

Creed argues that the best career choices that allow career development should be based on personal interests, skills and values (qtd. in Kygin and Gulluce, 2013, p. 1). Keeping this in mind, it is only fair that I choose film production and photography as my career. My interests revolve around film making and photography related activities such as editing photos and or videos and I am highly creative and good at coming up with new ideas. As a result, I have been of assistance to many people especially for ideas for a project or a poster.

Additionally, I am not really smart at mathematics and science hence I would not prefer a career based on these. A good career choice should make a person happy and comfortable for the best performance. In the modern day, career patterns have taken a new form and it is more about what brings fulfilment and satisfaction in an individual. Filmmaking and photography makes me happy and I get a sense of fulfilment while carrying out activities revolving around these lines. Additionally, fulfilling careers boost people’s self-esteem and the sense of belonging makes relationships with colleagues mush smoother and better.

Therefore, I am going to pursue my dreams and passion in filmmaking and photography despite the challenges since it gives me fulfilment and satisfaction. Reference Kaygin, E. & Gulluce, A. (2013). The Relationship between Career Choice and Individual Values: A Case Study of a Turkish University. International Journal of Humanities and Social Science, Vol. 3 No. 3.
