MBA Admission Essay Reasons for Pursuing a Graduate Program The current business environment is extremely demanding. The environment particularly demands the acquisition and application of management principles and skills. To achieve this kind of competence, an undergraduate degree is not enough. This is because, in undergraduate, the scope of the study in as much as it is the necessary does not prepare a manager enough to handle the competition in the real world of business. This is the main reason I seek to pursue graduate education in a field that will be important to me and my future. Pursuing a master in business administration will be a boost to my life and career in a number of ways. First, the course can prepare me for senior management positions (Rubin and Dierdorff, 87) . The program offers a wider scope in the world of management. With the wide exposure in all management areas such as finance, accounting, human resources and business ethics, the program allows a manager to develop a holistic perspective of the business world and its environment. Secondly, the rise in the management position is important for career development and advancement. Organizations are currently seeking to enroll managers who have a wider scope and more skills that are provided in the undergraduate level. This, therefore, means that with a Master’s degree in business administration, I will have a better chance of securing senior management jobs in a variety of organizations and institutions. This advancement comes with a positive impact on the salaries and remunerations. The program, therefore, will enable me to live a comfortable life. Further, the program is not limited to students in the business field. This means that I will be in a community of students from different disciplines and with different cultural and educational backgrounds. The implication of this is that I will acquire a wider scope of life and have the opportunity to work with people and establish better-consolidated business networks. The socialization that will result will be important in widening my perspective of life and career. Therefore, the program offers me with a combination of benefits that will allow me not only to pursue career development but also my personal aspirations in life. The skills learnt will be important to me in my quest to establish my own business in the future. Specific Interests I am currently pursuing Finance and Management Information System. This course has so far allowed me to have a perspective in the business world and as a result, I feel that I belong in the business environment and that I have a lot to offer to the environment of international finance and marketing. These specific interests will help me broaden my skills in international business and allow me to exercise concepts-based management in my business. I intend to seek a position in international companies upon graduation. This will help me secure experience, attitude and skills that are essential in this field to help me establish my own international marketing business and manage it effectively within five years after graduation. Working with an international company will give me a crucial opportunity to expose me to different business environments and allow me to explore different cultures and learn their expectation in business. With an MBA degree, will means that will be considered for a senior position and possibly be appointed for the expatriate position to manage the business of the company in a different region. I intend to use this position to first gain experience in business management and dealing with change because of cultural differences. It is also in this position that I will be able to exercise my skills in conflict resolution, change management and human resource management. It is my desire that I will work in a company that is establishing itself and be part of the initial strategy to get the company working. This will equip me with the skills required to establish my own company from the start. With a position as described above, I will have unimaginable exposure to the global environment and be able to strategize for the company. This will earn me positive career reputation and hence promotion and increment of salary. This economic impact will boost my desire to establish my own company and manage it myself. I will, therefore, be able to minimize the economic limitations to the establishment of business and make my dream of being an employer a reality. Working with the company for five years will help me create and consolidate important business networks with the clients of the company and stakeholders in different parts of the world. This will help in making my entry into the business easy as I will be dealing with environments that I have an idea about. The period will also add to my management experience and my maturity as an international marketer. This will be a result of direct exposure to different cultures, under different managements and in a variety of situations. I expect to utilize this experience in my position as the manager of my international marketing organization. In international marketing, I expect to work with people from different cultural and educational background. To effectively socialize with the people and ensure that the business runs well in the variety of environments will call for skills and attitudes that will have to be learnt is a program that is dedicated to this. It will also mean that I will be managing my own business. The implication of this is that I will have to be skilled in all the business administration and management disciplines to be in a position to manage the workforce, the finances and the resources for profitability (Tan and Sousa, 145). It is also my expectation that the business environment will be experiencing periodic changes due to changes in technology and global demands of business. It is therefore my expectation that the MBA program will equip me with the knowledge, skills and attitude that will be crucial in ensuring that my business is well managed, and that I have in my business people with the most important skills to achieve my objectives. As an international marketer, I intend to explore different environments before engaging in the business. For this to happen, I need to visit and analyze different countries to assess the viability of marketing business in each of them. First, I will visit the countries that I am quite conversant with and whose business culture is closely related to that of the United States. This will assist in that I will be needed to use one initial strategy to establish in all these environments. I will also have to look at the established like businesses in these countries, study their management structure and organization principles that each of them uses. I will then use this information to come up with a viable strategy that will encompass all the strong points and aspects of all my to-be competitors in business. As a manager, I will direct and control my company, its goods and services to consumers across borders in order to establish a competitive advantage and, as a result, amass profits and other economic benefits. The experience will be incredibly diverse, providing me and the rest of the company with untapped wide potential and a range of profitable opportunities that exist in different environments. This diversity will no doubt make management operations complex and to cope, and I will have to exercise strict coordination of different processes in order to ensure success. Although this exposure to international marketing will still use the basic principles of marketing, it is expected that the differences in environments will mean that the principles will be integrated with different marketing strategies. I will, therefore, have to study the target markets, establish the requirements of each consumer population and use this information to devise a strategy that will be applicable in each. However, I intend to take it systematically to reduce the risks of losses. Starting with only a few countries, I will be able to learn more about international marketing and hence improve as the company expands its business to a larger population. I intend to use a variety of strategies specific for each environment. It is also likely that the business will have to deal with marketing of commodities whose consumers are differentiated by age and generation. It will, therefore, be important to research on the demographic aspect of the target population and create strategies that will focus on marketing to a specific group of people. One common strategy that has been successful over the years is the aspect of internet marketing. Although this cannot be the sole strategy, it is important in reaching a larger population of users and prospective clients. To achieve all these and make my interests a reality, knowledge, skills and attitudes of global business is necessary (Tan and Sousa, 145). This is the kind of training that I expect to acquire from the MBA program. It is, therefore, a necessity to my career development, and personal interests that I pursue a program that will equip me with knowledge, skills and attitudes that will be useful. The holistic perspective from the program will be useful in widening my perspective as an employee and as a future manager. Further, socializing with people from different backgrounds will enable me to establish valuable contacts and networks that will be necessary for helping me achieve my goals.
