Extract of sample "Why I Want to Volunteer in a Hospital Setting"

As a person, I have always sought immense pleasure and satisfaction in helping the sick in any way possible. I have particularly drawn towards assisting young children who suffer from some sort of ailment. As a child, I had seen my godmother run a daycare facility. This cultivated in me a spirit of public welfare and soon I found myself acquainted with working for children’s welfare. Also, the longer I stayed with my godmother in that daycare, the more I wanted to reach out to those children.

Prior to this experience, I was more inclined towards pursuing a career in high paying corporate jobs. However, the experience that I gained by interacting with the young kids was invaluable and could not be compared to any other job in the world. Furthermore, hands-on experience of volunteer work at a hospital would assist me to pursue my career as a nurse. Also, this shall enable me to fulfill the requirement of community service hour necessary for high school graduation. In retrospect, I was extremely thankful to my friend and godmother for showing me the right path.

I have developed a burning ambition for helping humanity in particular children) and becoming a volunteer worker in a hospital would help me pursue just that.
