Corporate vision statement
The corporate vision statement is referred to as puncture of the company which is the inspiration and the framework of the strategic planning in the company. It defines the question of where the company wants to be after a given period of time. For example, Coca Cola envisions a company where every one yearns to work in. It also intends to make a sustainable profit in the long run. Wal-Mart has the vision that they want to save people money therefore, they can live better. It articulates the dream the company has to the shareholders and to the clients. Vision statement acts to remind the company the company is trying to build. Even though it does not show where the company intends to go it explains the planning in the company. Therefore, the vision statement in the two companies is directed towards making a profit to the shareholders and also satisfying their clients. (MacDonald, 1997)
The vision statement is similar with the educational vision statement in that it shows a bigger picture on where the company intends to be. MacDonald (1997) they are also similar as both articulate the dream on where either the company or the institutions intends to be. For example, in Georgia intends to maximize the potential in students through creating a productive citizen that can contribute to positive development of the society. California University of Pennsylvania intends envisions being the top university in the entire America.
In the company, vision statement can apply to different divisions; the educational vision statements also might be different from one faculty to another. But what is clear that the overall vision statement should be consistent.
Vision statements stated above follow the criteria discussed since;
They help in the forecasting in the entire organization, they are audacious, motivating, it is purpose driven, and the vision is also inspiring and also capitalizes on unique competencies.
The example of the vision statement from both companies and two educational institutions act as a driving force to employees and the staff towards achieving the bigger picture in the or the fundamental laid objectives. (Clarke, 2003)
