According to the essay findings, it can, therefore, be said that Tufts University offers more than academic excellence. I take it as a more challenging school as my whole being would be put to the test, physically, mentally and socially. I love challenges and going beyond my limit would be a great achievement for me. These are the reasons why I took transferring to Tufts University into account, believing it would be an instrument to my achievements both in academics and athletics. Swimming is really a part of my life which I can not separate with and I see the chance of doing it in this school. The various activities in the school like photography and being in student organizations have been well thought of as well. Sure, Duke’s University has these to offer however, it is a huge school compared to Tufts. Being a smaller college, I see the probability of my active involvement in the aforementioned activities higher. As a foreign student, there are greater limitations to the accomplishment of the things I like to do in a bigger college so I believe Tufts University would be the perfect school I can go to. With all these said, I look forward to working with Tufts University in the pursuit of an excellent life. Read More

Universal Health Care: For Better of For Worst

It is perplexing that one of the most powerful and most democratic nations in the world does not have universal health care. The citizens of the United States grow anxious and dissatisfied with the current health care system. Expensive health care costs, impersonal medical procedures exercised by medical providers, and the bleak future the long-standing health care system offers, prompted both the ordinary and the intellectual class to advocate a government-run and taxpayer-funded health care system that is patterned on one of the most useful elements of the present health care structure, Medicare (Langer para 1). It is very heartrending to know that multitudes of poor American citizens die from chronic diseases that are actually...

Does Cooked Food Offer Better Nutrition Than Raw Food

There seems to be more agreement on how cooking started than when it did. Most anthropologists believe bush fires started by lightning burnt or baked roots or tubers that were exposed. The man happened to eat it. Similarly, man must have tasted his first cooked meat by chance, when he found a beast killed by a forest fire. He then realized that roasted meat is more palatable and easier to chew and digest than raw meat. Later on, he learnt to use fire for roasting meat. Roasting meat over fires remained the only way food was cooked until the Palaeolithic Period, when people of southern France, it is believed began to steam their food by wrapping it in wet leaves and placing them over hot embers. Shells, skulls, or hollowed stones w...

Some teachers are reluctant to use computers, for example on the grounds that it is an expensive option and not every child has access to one at home, but its prevalence nowadays means that students should be given the opportunity to use computers in their Mathematics lessons. They have the advantage of being able to make complex calculations much quicker, demonstrate graphical visualisations, instilling...

Educational Opportunities

.... Although the former has deep roots in American culture and its jurisprudence, a common narrative is that in recent years the equal opportunities approach has been displaced by the educational adequacy approach, which is said both to have enjoyed much greater success in the school financing litigation as well as to be theoretically more defensible. The present article is designed to make a contribution to the retrieval of the equal opportunities approach. It does so by sketching out a theory of equal opportunities in education organized around the idea of stakes fairness that can withstand the criticisms often made of that approach and by showing how that theory is better able than the educational adequacy approach to address the fairness...
