Soccer: My Extracurricular Activity As an Indonesian, I have spent my high school years in my country (7th to 12th grade). I am a sports enthusiast in particular, soccer. I started joining the school soccer team when I was in 9th grade and played until the 11th. I had to stop from the soccer team shortly after I entered the 12th grade to be able to focus more on my studies. While still in our soccer team, I played the first team defender and participated in inter-school competitions. There were several winning and losing moments for me, yet I chose never to give up.

I tend to figure out the specific mistakes I made in the competition and formulate different and possible solutions to correct these mistakes and ultimately become a better player in the long run. These self-evaluating and constant corrections are one of the greatest challenges I have undergone in my young life. I think that the habit of reflection and struggle for applying the lessons are not just applicable to my soccer playing, but in my academic and life education too. Whenever we win the competition, I would get this immense feeling of satisfaction.

This satisfaction is priceless and encourages me to work harder and continue to strive for success. Why Math Fails During my first quarter in De Anza College, I got very sick and was unable to attend the final exam. Consequently, I failed in my Political 1 class and got an F grade for this class. Meanwhile, in the winter of 2011 and in an Economics 1 class exam, our instructor saw a piece of paper lying on the floor, adjacent to my table. This led her to think that I was cheating and gave me a D grade.

I was very upset about it -- I did not cheat. Few days later, she sent me an e-mail informing me that I got zero in my Finals. It was a huge blow for me because I did not even have the chance to explain to her, as she was reluctant to hear any explanation. I went to try explaining my predicament to the Dean, but no help came.
