Graduate School Admissions Essay 　 The paper presents graduate admission’s essay for Brandeis International Business School. An applicant provides a Committee with his background professional information, making and emphasis on its importance for the School, the classroom and his future career. An applicant is applying for a Masters degree in Finance. Essay 1 Personal background I would like to talk about my personal qualities at first. During five years at Uganda Greenville High School, Kampala, Uganda (where I received Advanced Certificate in Education 1996-2001), and during my study at Makerere University Kampala, Uganda, where I made an attempt and succeeded in getting Bachelors in Business Administration/Accounting (2002-2005), I have been accumulating my experience in accounting. This was a long and a fruitful period of my life. During those times I developed my analytical and problem solving skills. Thus, I clearly realize how to make right decisions. Professional Experience I would like to talk a little bit about my professional experience. I am currently employed by Nile Cargo Carrier Inc Newton, MA (2006-2011) as an accounting assistant. I have been performing various actions and completing different tasks, such as management of accounts payable and receivable for the company, administration online banking functions on behalf of the company, keep records of company’s expenses, prepared annual company accounts and reports etc. Therefore, I develop my skills with the help of Internet and computer technologies, which is of crucial importance nowadays. Moreover, while keeping records of company’s expenses, I have been developing my attention to details, thus contributing to my self-organization. In the result of my accounting and technical skills development, I designed and implemented a database for the company’s new Payment Management System. This database system is a perfect means for a record keeping improvement. During this period (2009-2011) I have been also employed by Bridgewell Lynnfield, MA as a direct support professional. My function was to take care of people with mental and physical disabilities helping them in accessing resources and recreational facilities in the community. Every day I am pleased to perform a function worthy of respect, I think. I am not boasting. I just want to make an appeal for you, Dear Members of Committee, and my future classmates that performing humane functions and helping people remains the most important task for every citizen. Still, this personal and professional experience is only a top of an iceberg. During 2005-2006 I worked at Standard Chartered Bank Kampala, Uganda as an accountant. This occupation planted seeds of my future professional development. I had to provide financial advisory services to customers, to help reconcile large amounts of banking transactions and to organize a new accounting department. At this stage of my professional career I had to work with personnel and train new recruits. I think that at this stage I managed to develop my communication and verbal skills. Essay 2 In 2005 in Uganda I also managed to establish my own printing business called Mirembe Prints Limited, a company that deals in printing and designs. This step was rather risky, but it was necessary for my personal and professional development. My own business was an outlet for my professional experience and creative aspirations. I can surely claim that I managed to reach a success in my own business thanks to knowledge and my professional experience. It was my well-considered plan to go through fire and water; otherwise I would not respect myself. I am sure that the main principle of business is to take a risk wisely. It may sound naive, but I am sure that in the result of my professional and personal development, I would reach immense heights in the business world, having gone through a thorny path of accounting and financing. A cross-cultural experience has contributed much to my verbal skills development and thanks to it I can speak English, Swahili, Luganda languages freely. Moreover, paying a great respect for a modern technological advancement of the modernity, I am trying to remember of the necessity to constantly improve my computer skills. Currently, I am proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook Express, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7 and the Internet. I have been always considered as a good student with well-developed written and verbal communication skills; still I have been constantly working at them, because I make an emphasis on the necessity to be a good interlocutor, because a human factor is of crucial importance in any occupation. I would like to underline that during my study I worked hard at any projects. My scrutinized approach and a proper attention to details have increased my multi-tasking performance abilities. 　Of course, the years of my study cannot be described in one abstract. My feelings and emotions of those years still remain in my heart. I am sure that learning process is the first stage of a personal’s professional career formation. That is why I took care and tried to work at full capacity in order to accumulate as much knowledge as I could, systematize and use in my future career. That is why I cannot separate my student years from my professional years. I think that it is not necessary. During both of these periods I have been shaped as a full-fledged professional. Still, I am sure that this process of personal development has no limits. I would like to notice, that my application for a Master’s Degree in Finance does not mean a crown of my professional development. I am thinking about my future study as about an opportunity to extend my experience, to get new knowledge, and to cooperate with my teachers and classmates fruitfully in the name of professional advancement in the filed of finance.
