These experiences have taught me the value of resilience, the age-old formula of hard work; passion for learning; a very strong sense of independence; and a good work ethic.
Despite the ‘sweet’ burden of supporting myself through school, this did not prove an obstacle in being a man for others. I have worked as a volunteer for several institutions, recognizing that neither my ethnicity nor my financial difficulties should inhibit selflessness and an authentic desire to be of service. I have volunteered as a tutor/mentor in two institutions – the Making Changes Freedom School in Richmond, California, and at Tutor Experts in Walnut Creek, California. Through these venues, altruism and charity have been indelibly marked in my person; and I am as grateful for the experience as my students. I have also had the opportunity to volunteer for the California Pacific Medical Center and the American Red Cross Mobile, both in San Francisco California.
A major consideration in the choice of Creighton University School of Medicine is my strong belief in its vision of “improving the human condition through excellence in educating students, physicians and the public, advancing knowledge, and providing comprehensive patient care.” The mission in itself speaks of service, altruism, physician competence and selfless – values which are remarkably consistent with my own. One other noteworthy feature of the university is its emphasis on Catholicism; I belong to a very devout Catholic family, and service to humanity, especially the underprivileged, has been instilled in me by my parents. Perhaps, this core value has been the driving force behind my strong sense of volunteerism, and sincere desire to help others. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Homeopathic Medicine - Alternative Medicine

...?Homeopathic Medicine – Alternative Medicine Homeopathy had its origins in the later part of the 18th century and developed mainly in the 1800's. Around those times only scientific advances were seen in various fields including the fields that are related to medicine like chemistry. Even with this advancement, the medical practices were imbued with irrational treatments with small ‘dosage’ of superstitions thrown in. These unfavorable situations prevailing then only spurred Samuel Hahnemann, regarded as the “Father of Homeopathy”, to come up with an alternative treatment. Although he himself was a physician with a degree in Medicine, the faults of the allopathic system only ‘circulated’ in Hahnemann’s mind. So, he started to write many...

Personal Qualities

... For the past seventeen years of my existence, I have discovered numerous qualities about myself. For instance, I acquired determination; a prominent facet of life, in the seventh grade after repeating the same grade as my peer moved to the next grade. Sharing the same class with new students made me feel out of place and yearn to skip the eighth grade. My yearning was almost impractical if not for the motivation I got from my discouragement. Interminable nights spent studying contributed to my improvement; the usual Cs and Ds became straight As. In addition to this, the positive results for my test scores in addition to meetings with councilors and summer tutoring materialized my desire for skipping 8th grade. From the time I... the past...

It requires methods for detecting errors and capturing error contexts, as well as methods for reducing errors and mitigating their effects. Critical Appraisal of the Research about Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture by Melchart

Fundamentally, the treatment is acupuncture but the research methodology/research design allows us to assess validate whether acupuncture really works by introducing a third situation: minimal acupuncture instead of only no acupuncture.

On closer analysis, however, what Melchart et al. (2005) described as “minimal acupuncture” is actually zero acupuncture because the “minimal acupuncture” consisted of superficial needling at non-acupuncture points and were meant to investigate whether acupuncture have placebo effects and, if so, how of its possible effects in headache is classifiable as placebo. According to Merchant et al. (2005, p. 376), acupuncture and minimal acupuncture were administered by...

The Quality of College Food

A random survey was appropriate for the research given the constraint of time. According to Ching, the research was done in Bunker Hill community college (45). This was a two-year college; hence it was plausible to consider a four-year college in order to obtain reliable deductions. The research carried out was objective given that the results and deductions were obtained in two different days and at different intervals. It was easy to analyze the primary data obtained because it was tabulated in a spreadsheet, which provided a suitable view of the deductions made in the field. A number of factors may cause a lack of parental involvement. Parents do not participate because of poverty, or drug and alcoholism. Teachers in public sch...
