Extract of sample "Code of Ethics and Happiness"

Running Head: Ethics of Ethics In Speech for the Greater Enrichment Program, Dr. Gorman was fair and ethical by stating that every child needs to have the proper attention to perform well. He suggested that teaching them good habits in elementary school as in study habits and helping to make the right choices will make them successful later in life. To be fair and ethical, he suggests that The Youth Risk Behavior Survey conducted in Charlotte and other cities across the country by the Centers for Disease Control should be used by them because thirty-seven percent of teens in Charlotte said they had become sexually active by the ninth grade. With that, if every child is educated well, the school needs to be sure that there are protections and alternatives to risky behaviors available to our children. Gorman stated in the speech (2006), "There is no single magic answer to the social and academic challenges that our students face. The solution instead lies within each of us in this community - it is up to us to be involved in our schools, to teach our children the importance and the value of education and to make sure they achieve at the highest level possible. To raise our achievement levels, CMS needs help from every member of this community" (Speech for the Greater Enrichment Program, 2006). In today's modern society, schools are sometimes forced to leave some children behind. However, for some multicultural students, the noble idea of not leaving a child behind has not yet been taken seriously with the general public and a lot of educational systems. This is why it is very important in my code of ethics for parents to be involved. My code of ethics has been based on the fact that when parents are involved, students perform much better because they feel like they have that support that they need which is also addressed in Speech for the Greater Enrichment Program. Furthermore, in my code of ethics, the progressions of credentials, assessment, categorization, placement, and instruction have truly meant to put down their cultural and linguistic differences (Obiakor, 2000). Since it has been clearly proven that Westerners and Asian American think and learn differently from one another, in my code of ethics, parents should be brought into the learning process so that every child can learn the same way even though they will process it in a different. If school systems would accept this concept of diversity in learning, there would be no feeling of failure for the no child left behind program. Things such as the abovementioned only form the apparentness and literalness of the behavior of American students. Because of their differing backgrounds and despite their oneness when it comes to opinionating, the ways in which they were brought up surely play the most significant factor on why they are who they are (Khramtsova and Saarnio 2007). Their behaviors are correlated with all the attributes they and their backgrounds possess. One such example is success. A student in an American classroom can correlate his depression and being antisocial with the way he is performing academically. And also, lest it is forgotten, the behavior of American students inside the classroom depends somewhat upon their relationships with professors and faculty, because, after all, they are the ones who teach the subject and interact with students (Sorcinelli 1995). It is proven through study that professors and teachers who are friendlier and give more leeway to students are more accepted than those strict ones. Furthermore, those professors who express themselves more freely and convince students to also do the same are more liked and more listened to. Virtually all students are no longer juveniles, and so their points of views almost parallel each other's. The so -called "cool" professor easily find their way to the hearts of American students. Nevertheless, the part that the professor plays in the determining and analyzing the behavior of students in an American college classroom is relatively small. But then again, professors can change the students' perceptions and mindsets through the subject they are teaching but all those contribute only in less than ample ways. Almost all that is needed to determine the question of behavior inside the classroom lie upon the students themselves and their nurturing parent From there, my code of ethics would contain the following aspects of education, which supports the health, safety, and welfare of all students. Parents must be involved with the learning process so that the student will feel supported by them. Teachers must relate and treat all students on a personal level in order for them to learn about any health and safety issues to keep them away from risky behaviors There has to be programs like The Youth Risk Behavior Survey in order to reach out to students so that they can steered away things that cause health and safety issues. When comparing the above code of ethics and Gorman's speech, it is apparent that America is the melting pot of the whole world, the New World, seen by the rest of the world as the land of opportunity, the land of the free, the green pastures, and the crossroads where virtually all nationalities and races meet. This problem would not have aroused studies and researches a few centuries ago. This study would not have been conducted in other countries because almost all the world's countries and their people possess unifying attributes that make them distinct and unmistakable for any other nationality, race, culture and language. Only America possesses the probability of encountering this problem because of countless causes - immigration, preservation of heritage of immigrants, racial and ethnic differences, and cultural differences to name a few. Being an American individual does not necessarily mean that you are of white, black, red, brown, or yellow complexion, which signify race. The term "American" has no racial insinuations for virtually all Americans trace their roots from distinct nationalities, races and ethnic groups and this complication alone can cause innumerable perplexed things. But because of the fact that America had evolved into its present status, all sorts of studies need to be carried out for the purpose of solving the problem. The analysis of the classroom behaviors from students of American students is only one of the countless implications brought about by the evolution of America itself. Therefore, when comparing the code of ethics with the speech, it is apparent that people must band together as a community in order to give and receive the best education for their children as shown in the speech. It's never been easy to be a child and it's not easy today. So it's very important that we connect with our children - in school, in after-school programs, through mentoring and teaching and family relationships - to guide them through the shoals of childhood and adolescence into adulthood. The Greater Enrichment Program is one way to open that connection with our kids, and it's a successful one. Partnerships like yours with CMS don't just enrich the lives of our students - they enrich the lives of all of us in the community (Speech for the Greater Enrichment Program, 2006). From there, the typical American classroom is as diverse as anything can get, on all facets, virtually. A classroom is comprised of European Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Asian Americans and African Americans. This does not stop at race or ethnicity, however that diversity triggers even more "sub-diversities," such as attitude, religion, socioeconomic, behavioral factors and even in points of view. In other words, my code of ethics will help bridge the gaps in diversity and students and parents so that their health and safety will not overshadow their education.
