Lawyer's experience in education
In my opinion, education is one of the most important things for the person in the contemporary world who wants to become successful. This persuasion has always existed in my family that is why I have always been paying lots of attention to my academic life. I have been always keen on getting the best education available that is why my parents sent me to high school in U.S, where I studied from 1996 till 2000. I found out that the U.S schools offer much broader range of subjects to their students, and more opportunities for personal development.
That is why I decided to continue education in the United States, and went to Boston University after school. That was when I found out that higher education in the U.S differs a lot from that, which is offered in high school. The volume of information that pounced on me from my first days at college was overwhelming, and I had hard times trying to cope with it. There was too much things to be done and learned, and I lost courage and self-confidence for some period. In addition I had health problems – pains in the back, caused by the herniated back disc distracted me from studying.
At that period I had to pay lots of attention to my academic life, due to the amount of information I got. I had almost no time to socialize, and my back hurt badly. Sometimes I felt like giving everything up, and returning home, but in some time I developed a strategy that helped me to cope with my problems. I decided that I wanted to continue my education in the Boston University, and to cope with all the strain I learned time-management and some self-motivation techniques, which helped me to organize my working hours effectively, leaving time for work and social life.
However, I managed to overcome all of those problems, and during my last three year in the Boston University I led a full life. My grades became much better – I had higher than 3.0 GPA for last three years, and I took active part in the social life of the university. I was the member of the Korean Business club at Boston University, went to the athletic club, which helped me to deal with my health problems, and had intense work experience. In between 2001-2002, I was in Korea , my hometown, and went to Yonsei University at spring semester.
I have always believed that one should get practical experience together with academic knowledge in order to become a qualified specialist. That is why I began to work as soon as I got the minimal amount knowledge needed to be effective. For two years, from 09/02 till 06/04 I worked in the cell phone store (Digicom wireless), from 05/04 till 08/04 I had a summer internship at law office (Lee's international law group) in Korea, and worked at law office in LA ( Kim, Joo & Associates), at 09/05 - 06/06. Now I’m employed as a Larry's law office at Boston as a volunteer internship.
During past to years I’ve been working in the law offices both in Korea and in the U.S. I have felt the essence of working as a jurist, understood how things are done there, and realized that I would like to choose jurisprudence as a career. I feel that I have the potential to become a qualified specialist in the field of law, as I’m a goal-oriented person, and I have enough academic and practical background for getting education in this field and using my knowledge and skills in practice.
