? Childhood Obesity in the United s Childhood Obesity in the United s It is d that in the past thirty years, childhood obesity has been doubled. Being obese means having body weight that supposes a certain height from muscles, fat, water as well as bone. In short, it entails shaving excess body fat. This is a dangerous thing since, it leads to over weight, which in turn can be a source of chronic diseases such as pressure, diabetes just to sample a few. Having said that, it is worth to note that this essay will illustrate six educational articles, all that narrates the degree to which obesity is infesting the United States at the moment. Introduction It is obvious to note that no one will feel comfortable when he or she is obese. Since one, this will make you not to go through daily chores perfectly due to overweight. Secondly, one might incur chronic disease such as the pressure and diabetes. With that, the need to fight and eradicate it should be geared up by the non-governmental organizations, government, schools, and volunteers. United States is one of those countries that face this challenge, and the worse part of it is that according to statistics, the number of those children affected is increasing. That is why, in this essay, several writers are giving their views and the need to fight obese to the last minute. Actually according to “The Kid's Doctor: Family routines can reduce childhood obesity. Family Relation,” a journal published by the database of American pediatrics, it is worth noting that it entirely validate the significance of family routines (Hubbard Sue 2013). Having put that across, the above article constitutes the researchers from university of Ohio State, where they deeply analyzed household routines in relation to child obesity, a problem that has been ever escalating. Here, the whole research entailed 8,500 children under the age of four years. The outcomes were alarming in that, almost 18 percent of the children were diagnosed with obesity. Due to this high number of affected children, Hubbard, the author affirms that it forced the researchers to inquire the cause of this veering phenomenon. After analysis, it became known that a number of household routines gears up a predicator of the obesity in the United Stated. It follows that this household routines are viewed as easy to initiate in that its accomplishment does not actually entail a cost. For instance, families that have established good or considerable routines family meals, this has proved to be a positive to children since it results in improved academic results in children, risk of using drugs and alcohol, attention as well as overall wellbeing. Generally, luck of family eating together, proper sleep just to mention but a few has constituted to the issue of increased obesity in children in the US, this is according to the above article. Conclusively, in the efforts to try to give out a solution, Hubbard affirms that teens should be made to follow a certain healthy schedule for instance, they should b made to not when to go to sleep. Secondly, he reminds the parents that children under the age of two years should be denied the chance of watching television, and those above the age of two should watch television but in not more than two hours. Although, it is difficult to understand its co-relation with obesity, the truth is that this author followed the direction by the American Academic of Pediatrics. According to “school snack food rules clamp down on calories, fat”, an article by Anderson and Butcher, they actually based their argument on the research they did on the foods sold in the U.S schools (Anderson & Butcher, 2006). They argue that the snacks sold in the U.S school have actually increased the rate at which children obesity is engulfing children. According to them, they affirm that most of these foods are over-fatted; they have a lot of sugar as well as salt. They based their argument upon the rules given by the federal State regarding the quality of foods that should be sold in schools. They assert that many entrepreneurs have skipped this rule and that they value their pockets a lot. The most disheartening thing is that, as much as the schools were ordered to stick to these rules, some administrators fretted at implementing the recommended changes. Some administrators argued that the rules were considerably inadequate, and so the jury is still out to the target audience, who are the children. According to them, this is the main cause of obesity and that their urge is for the concerned to follow up on the rules to make sure all the expected persons take heed of the rules. In so doing, they believe that the amount that the US children are consuming, which is almost more than a half of their daily calories will be ceased. Generally, they are irritated by the quantity of the foods that is being sold in school and so they are against that. In the same way, “Plate size could curb childhood obesity, study shows. The Future of Children,” Daniels is concerned about the amount of food given to children in school, just as Anderson is (Daniels, 2006). On his said, he also affirms that eating habit is schools, are the main sources of children being obese. Considerably, his concern is on the size of the plate in school. According to research, when children are given larger plates, or bowls, with that, they get the freedom to serve for themselves larger portions of food. In this way, they end up consuming many calories. Therefore, however much their parents will try to control their eating habits while at home, most of them find the whole freedom while in school to enjoy what their parents are controlling for them. Although he asserts that it might be hard to control this, he suggests that the only option is to let all the children in school to use a plate size that is the same. This will at a greater degree reduce the possibility of them eating many calories up to until they reach puberty. Her goes ahead to affirm that doing this will not hurt anyone, in fact children will be at a better place to maintain their health. Therefore, the alarming issue of obesity will be effectively controlled. By changing single behavioral eating habits in children, the country will be saved concerning obesity. He summarizes the all phenomena by asserting that this technique is worth trying. Deckelbaum on other hand, in his “how Washington went soft on childhood obesity”, blames the effort by the federal government, which have been futile in controlling the amount of sugar, salt and calories that the children consume in the United States (Deckelbaum & Williams 2001). First, he illustrates that white house kept silent when the so called congress pinned down the idea or rather plan of the four federal agencies to reduce fat and salt sold to children in food markets. If that is not enough, in the past two years, both the five cities and the States, raise taxes on soda, with the aim of actually reducing the consumption of more sugars by children. Unfortunately, the efforts have been dropped or rather have been defeated. He goes ahead to analyze examples of lobbying done by several firms. For instance, the industries doubled their spending during the past three years. Their aim was to make policies that will actually control the national food diet, and make it favor the children. Additionally, he lists center for science in the interest of the public as a lead lobbying forces, that actually saw the healthier foods come into market. According to statistics he illustrates, the firm used almost $ 70 000 last year. All in the effort of fighting the quality of foods expected to be the initially motivator of the children’s health. He laments that all the above is a wasted efforts since the white house did not take part in playing the directional and implementation role as expected. According to the article, it is true to not that, the political affairs on what children should drink or eat are very pertinent to the health of the nation as a whole. Since, the case in child obesity has so far been tripled, which actually foretells the possibility of heart disease, diabetes and other related illness. According to statistics, this article stipulates that America is one of the richest nations on earth. In addition, with so, it has a junk of food market that actually contributes to the childhood obese epidemic, which has been on rise each year. On his side, he still insists that the only savior here is the government. He argues that the government should not remain silent, when its nation is in jeopardy. White house should wake up and fight for what has been a threat to its citizens. In so doing, the people of the State will get to expected level. Other individual groups and companies, for instance “childhood obesity fight sees some success: group” , make their efforts in reversing the alarming growth rate of obesity have started to reap what they sawed, according to the report issued by the partnership for the healthier American (Ebbeling, Pawlak & Ludwig, 2002). This actually is a non-profit organization, which gears up to get the organizations and individual companies to fight the weight of an epidemic by then getting a specific action. According to him, almost three million kids have been encouraged to take exercises. However, there is still a need for more and more efforts in trying to completely minimize this situation. According to him, already one to ration three of the US citizens faces the challenge of being obese. At the same time, another third are overweight. To him, experts should be worried because the truth of the matter is that almost all those people who are overweight today, were heavier when they were still children. With that in mind, it is so frustrating for the government to relax, as it is today, and yet children are growing towards a worsened register. Further, he outlines the dangers that might come with an obese child. For instance, he affirms that childhood obesity is a disadvantage since actually it carries a significant health related costs, and even it goes ahead to pose national security risks. This actually can be a hindrance for military recruitment, or in other words, this aspect reduces the pool of those individuals who are fit for military service. Some of the concerned firms are opting to change the kind of the food that are being offered in restaurants, or even to recruit many children into soccer, tennis or other relevant activity all in the name of fighting obesity. At the same time, as much as people are pointing figures to the white house, according to Ebbeling, he says that he herd the US president affirm his natives that, in the places like the Mississippi, New York and Philadelphia, the child obesity issue is not as such a concern. He averts that the president has assured people that the rate of obesity is deteriorating due to the fact that people have converged their efforts hence the goal anticipated is about to be met. According to him, the government is the core facilitator or controller of an obese situation in any given government. And that is why, he gives all the blames to the government, arguing that the white house as much as president affirms that in some part of the country, Obesity has been controlled totally. He argues that the government should find a way where, vegetables and fruits should be the most in any given mealing environment. He is of the opinion that a certain rules should be arranged or restaurants be enforced to give people food that has les calories. He further admits that, president did not actually give the driving force to the firms that had planned to gear up the process of obese controlling. According to Gable, in his “With no score, every kid can win. New England Journal of Medicine”, emphasizes the fact that young children should be committed in sport (Gable & Lutz, 2000).. The full idea is that, the children should be made to build their skills than actually competing. In building their skills, children will be exercising at the same time equipping themselves at per with the required standards of life. According to him, the above idea is a source of Ontario Soccer association. He argues that there are several issues that are positive in a child playing without scoring. This analysis, was meant to evaluate the pertinence of a game, that children play without actually scoring, a question that thought to be contradicting. He argues that, in such a game, kids will not actually compete. Moreover, with this, the children will be making themselves fit for the game, and at the same time trying eradicating the issue of obesity. With him, that is all that is need for the children to step into the world of healthiness and at the same time, lead a precious life. The second advantage is that, to some extent, kids usually score but in their minds. With this, he borrows from the fact that his child has been playing a soccer league that does not have scoreboard. However, at the same time, he argues that his child can give him score without making errors. He further affirms that, with this kind of the game, kids are motivated to enhance improvement if actually the game does not count. To crown it all, Gable based his argument on games, and that he asserts that children should be given the full allowances and chance to participate in games. In so doing, they will be equipping themselves physical fit hence eradicating the issue of obesity. He concludes by urging all the Americans should stick to this, in addition to the foods that they are expected to eat. Conclusion In conclusion, it is clear to note almost all the articles is illustration the cause of obesity in United States and how it should be controlled. This shows how the issue of obese has been a bother to the United States quite for a longer time. Moreover, with that, some of the authors in this article illustrates that the government has not does enough in fighting this pertinent issue. at the same time, other blame the school and some governmental institution. All the same, the pertinence message in this paper if to fight and control obesity. References Hubbard Sue. (2013). The Kid's Doctor: Family routines can reduce childhood obesity.
