Causes behind poor Public Education System Since 1950s, the quality of American public education has declined rapidly. At this point of time the Federal government of America had decided to involve in the public education system. The students used to put into the special education classes quickly from the preliminary stages. Therefore, these students cannot gather the important basic knowledge and information about the curriculum, culture and worldwide view of education (Ferguson & Ronald, 1991). There are several reasons that are affecting the public education system, which have discussed in the later part of the study. (Distribution of Education Spending) Although US is gradually recovering for the great impact of recession, but the country has not able to save themselves totally from these effects. The government has failed to invest sufficient capital in the primary and secondary public education structure due to the lack of monetary resources. The dropout crisis of America gave a critical sarcastic indictment of the public educational structure. According to the report, more than 6 million students have been dropped out from the high schools in the year 2007 (Albada, 2010). The number has rapidly increased from the time of financial crisis and global recession. It has created huge unemployment problem in the public sector of US. After doing deep and profound research it has been found out that, the main reason behind the decline of this education system is inadequate use of assigned fund for public education system. The increasing corruption level and inadequate distribution of fund has decreased the quality of public education in US. It has evidenced that, several social cohesiveness indicators and the poor social practices have forced to decline the public school performance. For an example, decline of nuclear family and rising crime rates are the key reason behind this. These things have directly impacted on the mentality of young and child college and school students. Increasing crime rates has indirectly nurtured the students to motivate towards the wrong activities. Moreover, involvement in social crimes of the young students is the results of inadequate social awareness by the government and regulatory body (Kowalski & Theodore, 2002). It is feasible that, the child students and young graduates are finding difficult to understand what the social or family value is. Divide of joint family into the small parts can create negative mentality. Therefore, young generation cannot understand the proper family tradition and values. Several political issues and individualism is another reason behind the decline of public education system in America (Sexton, 2012). Privatization and high corruption level regarding the fund distribution is creating barriers for the development of schools. In the year 1996, the federal government of America has provided 10 percent of total funding to the public schools. Moreover, the remainder comes from the local and state sources, but it was evidenced that the poll did not organize any kind of inquiry commission to about the decrease or increase in local or state investment (Peltzmen, 1992). Since 2000, the government of America used to focus on the private educational institute. The people of middle income level find it very much difficult to admit their child in this expensive private educational institution due to low disposable income. The economic downturn is the only reason for this low disposable income of people. Moreover, the government did not take appropriate initiatives for these kinds of issues. Slowly and gradually, the quality of education in the public schools has decreased. Responsibility of Teachers The public education of America is in a declining stage. Teachers and administrators have become very much incompetent and have been biased by the inadequate regulatory system. Low academic preparation is another issue that is affecting the entire public education system in America. Partiality to specific student groups while evaluating the papers and distributing the marks, improper paper evaluation of the students who belong to the minority groups and increasing monetary corruption within teachers union is affecting the bright future of each and every individual students. Moreover, it has found out that, the teachers are lacking from the basic knowledge about particular subjects and theories. As a result, they are unable to make the students understand about those specific subjects. The purpose of the teachers’ union is to extract money and provide benefits for each and every member. It has been evidenced that, any kind of effort in order to change the public education system has been instinctively opposed by the union. Most importantly, the teachers with inadequate teaching skills are also getting paid at the similar rate as the efficient public teachers. The government has also failed to evaluate the performance of these incapable teachers. Poor teaching quality of teachers in public schools has become one of the usual socialism and welfare mini models. The quality of public education system has fallen over the past few decades in America. The union was established for a great social cause. At that point of time; the federal government of America also has supported the cause and the teachers union. The scenario has changed after 1980s. The union of teachers stayed afar from the original purpose of educational development. The union has become one of the money making union. Several assigned educational and infrastructure development fund used to be distributed among the union members. They do not even think about the quality of schools, education and future of the students. Moreover, the teachers of public schools used to focus on the retirement issue after illegally achieving the education development fund. The teachers do not bother about the education and future of the students. It is important that, the teachers should motivate the students. Teachers need to employ innovative strategies in order to make the education process full of fun. The teachers of public schools are not properly trained to implement these strategies in their teaching field. Therefore, several students in the public schools are failing to create inner interest towards public education. Therefore, it is feasible that, the parents are tending to admit their child in expensive private educational institutions in order to provide their child quality education. Strategies for Improvement Several improvement strategies need to be undertaken by both the government and public of the country. Firstly, the federal government of America should organize several awareness programs for the significant number of people within the country. The parents of every single child should be provided message and several information regarding the development and improvement of public education. Several NGOs can help in his aspect by providing organizational commitment, implementation of strong partners and event checklists can help to successfully organize this awareness programs. In the rural and remote areas, it is impossible task for the government to make the children aware about the public education reformation. In these places, the parents think that providing education to their child is a kind of burden. Here the local educated leaders can bring the education revolution with the help of several domestic and international NGOs (Bray, 1999). Government should divide the inquiry poll into small parts. It will help the government to monitor every single place. Sufficient fund allocation, appropriate fund distribution and encouraging the significant and responsible third parties for the public education awareness programs will help the government to bring the light of education in this rural area (FamiliesUSA). The every single household should be realized the value of education. It is the prime and foremost duty of government. The government should restrict the political involvement into the public education structure. The federal government of America needs to understand that, political involvement can increase the corruption level within the teachers union or association. Moreover, yearly scrutiny of the teachers is very much necessary. Otherwise, inadequate teaching quality can harm the future education and career of the students. The teachers need to go through under effective training session for six months. It will help the teachers to improve their teaching ability and skills of the teachers in public schools. Quality education is the only concern for the American household. Due to declining quality, the parents are forcing their child to admit expensive private educational institutes (Avis, 1999). Inquiry poll needs to judge the efficiency and transparency of every teachers wile evaluating the papers of students. Partiality for a specific student group needs to be prohibited. Students from majority or minority group need to be equally evaluated. A scrutiny evaluation check will restrict this kind of unethical practices. Social and cultural aspects need to be taught in the primary and secondary level in the public schools. The syllabus and course content should increase the moral level of students. Moreover, it is evidenced that, lack of promotion is and huge promotion and infrastructure facility of private educational institutions is forcing the households to admit the kids in the private schools. Looking into these matters, it should be recommended that, government should encourage and involve several media houses in order to increase the awareness about the public education system. The educational control board of America should constantly change the primary and secondary syllabus for every 10 years. Moreover, several international current affairs and up-to-date general knowledge information need to be introduced in the course work. The federal government of America should focus on educating members, volunteers and other coalition partners in order to train the teachers properly. Confidence building is necessary for the teachers in order to teach the students appropriately. Presently, the public education system is lacking the quality and several aspects. Government of America should make and manage commitments in order to develop the public education system. Last but not the least; government should look forward to overcome the problematic economic and social situation. Presently, the crime rate is rapidly increasing in America. On the other hand, the low disposable income of middle class people is creating barrier for the parents to admit their child in the expensive private graduate schools. Therefore, it is the major responsibility for the government to fulfill the commitments by providing appropriate funds and quality education to the future of the society (Walters, 2012). Unless, it is feasible that, government can face several social and economical problems in near future. Conclusion Some effective recommendation plans have been provided in order to overcome the challenges linked with the public education system in America. The public educators should promote themselves as the real source of education. Moreover, they should educate the students about the real truth and information. It is recommended that, the public educators need to become [politically savvy. These things should be taken care of government. As it is discussed earlier, involvement of politics may ruin the suitable environment of education (Anderson, Evans, Kozak & Peterson, 2006). Positive and effective publicity need to come from the individuals from the external educational sector who has enormous believe in the America’s public education structure. Appropriate information and data need to provided and circulated. The government should take serious steps, as the public education system’s effectively reflects the culture of a society and economy. As it is feasible from the study is that, several economical, social and political factors and government’s negligence is affecting the public education structure. Moreover, teachers’ inadequate teaching process is creating difficulty for the students. The economic recession, low disposable income of people and political corruption has decreased the quality of education in the public schools. Moreover, teacher’s partiality while evaluating the exam papers is restricting the deserved students to perform effectively.
