I believe every individual has an achievement in life that he/she is proud of. My case has not been any different. I opine that the biggest accomplishment of my life to date has been in choosing a regular life style which comprises healthy diet regimes, proper exercise measures and a clear cut positive attitude to bring about things in a corrective fashion. This has been one of the major reasons why I have been happy at heart as my life has been blessed with so many positive notions surrounding me. Since I have adopted a healthy nutrition agenda, my life has become better and it has transcended in the different life realms ever since. I can easily deduce that this has been the biggest task that I have attained to date and there is no reason why I should deny the same. The healthy nutrition was backed up by psychological body systems which aided in my grooming and development. It has been the basis of who I am and how I envision life in its truest fashion. I can easily fathom that these two points have helped me adopt a healthy life style which has facilitated my life like never before. The obstacles that I overcame during this process comprised my habits that I had to get rid of in order to choose a healthy lifestyle. It assisted me immensely towards adequately comprehending how things will shape up and how I as an individual needed to change the course if life in one way or the other. 2. Describe what an "underserved population" means to you. What are ways that a pharmacist can serve and impact underserved patient populations? By an underserved population, I hold the opinion that this is one segment of the society which is not being taken care of in a proper manner. These are the people who lack in basic healthcare settings, have shortage of food and are not in close contact with availability of water resources. This is the segment that is not being looked after and there are a number of reasons why this has happened within the domains of any society of the world. The underserved population is basically not being given its due share as the entire population must be treated in a fair and equal manner; however, this is hardly the case when one speaks of this form of segment. As a pharmacist, the role can be of immense significance as far as serving the underserved population is concerned. These are the individuals who can give medicines which are of equal use and effectiveness yet low in price as compared to a higher alternative. Much more can be grabbed from these pharmacists who have a huge role at making sure that their settings are being used for all the right reasons. The underserved population needs healthcare and attention, and this can only come about when there are concerted efforts by the society at large to make sure that sanity prevails within the related ranks and that too for all the right reasons. When I was hospitalized for a small illness in the year 2000, the entire basis of my life changed upside down. This was due to the extreme care and friendly attitude of the hospital staff which persuaded me to take up nursing as a profession. I went to the hospital for a very short period but it turned out that I was admitted for around 6 weeks due to minor complications. When I became well, I decided to pursue my career within the healthcare field. My future plans changed over the course of time and I became very interested in health regimes. I went ahead and took a certification as a nurse assistant and later on started working at the Lewis Memorial Christian Home for over a year. Currently, I am working as a Nurse Technician at St. John’s Hospital and the basis of my life has now been dedicated towards serving my patients. I give time to them and listen to what they have to say. They share their experiences with me as well as their concerns in the wake of their falling health realms. My physical, mental and spiritual basis is attached to them and this is what I dearly cherish. During a stressful situation, I usually take a deep breath, try to stay calm and focused as well as wear a positive attitude tag on my personality. I try to remain tolerant under stressful times which are something that I bank dearly upon. What is even more interesting to note is the fact that these make me tough from inside. Once at work I was unable to have a proper conversation with my peer and this led to a cold war situation. It amounted in a sense of negativity which meant that there were immense problems which came about within the department itself. No one appreciated this form of pessimism yet the colleagues lived on. Both I and my peer were however facing this situation because of ego at our side, which had become inflated by then. I coped with this situation by discussing these issues with my manager who was very helpful at properly tackling the problem at hand. He asked both of us to come and meet him individually after which he called both of us together and discussed our reservations that we had. I believe I spoke my mind and so did my peer. The end result was that both of us came out clean and hugged each other, which essentially meant that the problem went completely out of the equation.
