Strategies for Teachers Gillborn (1997) states, “Black students are suffering disproportionately as schools face increasing pressure to prove their worth in relation to crude performance indicators”. Teachers can play a considerable role in improving students’ performances. Ragos (2010) states, “The influence of a great teacher is reverberating”. While managing a class of Black Caribbean students, some major issues that a teacher needs to consider include managing students’ behaviors, managing students’ involvement in activities other than studies, encouraging good performances, regularly monitoring the students, monitoring students’ performances, showing care to the students, and making students punctual. 2.1 Create Awareness One of the best ways to improve attainment of Black Caribbean students in classrooms is to create awareness among them regarding their presence in the classrooms. The teacher should tell the students that they should be fully dedicated towards the studies while in classroom as it in their own benefit. The teacher should also tell students that there is a lot of time for them to get involved in extra curricular activities, but when they are in a classroom, they must concentrate on studies instead of thinking about other activities. 2.2 Encouraging Good Performances Another quality of great teachers is that they encourage good performances shown by their students. Encouraging the students improves their class performances. Encouragement acts as a positive feedback for the students and it makes them repeat their performances in order to meet their teacher’s expectations. Appreciation encourages and motivates the students to excel in their educational careers by showing good grades. A good teacher is one who not only encourages the classroom performances of the students but also encourages the students in sports activities. Encouragement plays a critical role in the success of a student and it is the job of a teacher to encourage the students and make them take part not only in classroom activities but also in all social activities. Students also respect those teachers who love them and encourage them for their good performances. 2.3 Monitoring the Students Another important step which the teacher of Black Caribbean students needs to take is monitoring of students’ activities in the classroom. The teacher should keep an eye on each and every activity of the students in order to make sure that they do not get involved in any kind of bad activity. If any student is found inactive in the studies, he should be notified and even then if that student does not show interest in studies, the parents of the student should be called in the school in order to discuss the behavior of the student with his parents. 2.4 Responding to Students The teacher of Black Caribbean students needs to respond to the queries of the students in order to satisfy them. A teacher should never ignore the query of any student. It is also one of the main responsibilities of a teacher to strengthen the concepts of the students and it can only happen if the teacher shows interest by responding to all questions raised by the students about the lecture. The Role Played by Cultural Difference in International Politics

The discourse of multiculturalism is inconsistent. To its advantages belongs preservation of cultural pluralism, recognition, and protection of the diverse minority, refusal from xenophobia, chauvinism, and racial prejudices. Lacks are shown in ethnisation of social relations, the institutionalization of cultural distinctions, ignoring the liberal principle of priority of the rights of an individual.

The culture of any nation, defining its spiritual uniqueness, expressing its creative power and abilities, simultaneously is a property of all mankind. “According to official multiculturalism, no individual is forced to retain his or her culture, but all cultures are granted a universal right to celebrate and even to...

An Overcorrection of Mary Magdalenes Biblical Role

A purely theological approach to DVC would be impossible since the claims the book makes takes issue with what has been supposedly left out of the bible. This essay will in no way attempt to question whether any non-canonical gospels should be considered; that sort of investigation should be left to historians.

As Brandon Gilvin states in Solving the Da Vinci Code Mystery, “It’s difficult to start a discussion on the creation of the bible from the Bible itself” (7). As the word of God is being questioned, it does us no good to turn to the Gnostic Gospels, the main sources of the claims of Mary Magdalene’s and Jesus’ marriage. In these texts, Mary Magdalene is the most mentioned person after...

The Ethical Role of Corporations

The main aim of an organization can be anything ranging from profit to gaining market share, but the way it achieves this goal matters a lot. There are certain responsibilities and obligations that the organization has towards various groups and situations. It may be impossible to discuss every ethical obligation to a corporation because there are so many. These range from the production of bad goods like tobacco to treating the employees fairly.

Mark Pastin in his book, ‘The Hard Problems of Management: Gaining the Ethics Edge’, has attempted to summarize this by providing four principles that are necessary in order for an organization to be ethical. The organization must interact with all stakeholders with...

Developing Professional Practice Portfolio

I work in a very busy outpatient department that includes many different clinic settings.  Most recently, the oral surgery, maxillo-facial surgery, and plastic surgery departments have become part of our directorate as a result of reorganization with in the trust. Although I have always considered myself to be a competent, confident professional, I found working in this reorganized department very stressful. The unit seemed to be very poorly organized with staff shortages and inadequate facilities. I was most surprised to discover that there were no documented records for patient wound care services provided in the clinic. I found this latter situation to be unacceptable from a professional standpoint. Some of the patients in...

An Evaluation of the Role That the Principles of Behaviour Therapy Have to Play in Clinical Hypnosis

Hamburg (2006) first used this combined effort to treat two patients who were scared of dying. He uses his paper to encourage clinicians to refrain from not using their knowledge at the introductory classes of hypnosis but to go into it deeper. Many therapists at that time were taking the bold step of combining behavior therapy with hypnosis (Chaves, 2006). One group used hypnosis for desensitization therapy (Kirsch et al, 1995). However, there was general disagreement about the manner of hypnosis being employed and the methods of mentalist constructs. Chaves who strongly believed in the treatment combination used it as a base for many of his therapeutic interventions (Chaves, 1997a as cited in Chaves, 2006). The hypnotic therapy...

... an income, poverty and the cultural ramifications derived from the Arab and Islamic culture for adhering strictly to the traditional without daring to be different constricts positive thinking and new ideas.
