Aristotle opined that excellence is not an act but a habit. Success and perfection matter the most to me. I like to be assessed on the results I achieve especially on the quality hence work towards perfection. As a future college student this aspect of my personality will help me achieve great results in my academic affairs. I consider these thrive and high quality interests in diversity are essential in my personal and professional life. My father has always been a role model in my quest for excellence. He dedicated all his life to 'grow' as a person, a parent and head of an organization. I have observed his career path carefully, highs and lows and this has help me evaluate what I want from my life. Immigrating to Europe presented a difficult set of cultural and social challenges that I overcame by excelling professionally and by integrating and building relations. Due to the fact that people contributed extensively to my lifestyle as a result I have developed a rich bi-cultural background. I staunchly believe in loyalty and excellence. Recognizing these tendencies I often try to find these qualities in the parties I interact with while at the same time trying to be more respectful of others' opinions and restrained in my zealousness. I am a very hard working person that believes a lot in the value of teamwork. I have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. To me helping other people is very important because doing so has allowed me to grow as an individual. I consider myself a very outgoing person, but when it comes to business, school, and family I take matters very seriously. During my short professional life I have succeeded by being a responsible worker that pays attention to detail and that treats customers with the respect they deserve.   Read More

The Success of a Conflict Resolution - How Do Teams Differ From Groups at Work

Teams enable the individual members to bring into their team's special skills and knowledge, different experience as well as diverse cultural exposure. Teams also allow for a speedy communication process as feedback can be achieved in short periods of time (Cranny, Smith, & Stone, 1992). Mullins, (2005) identifies some potential problems in teams as conflicts which arise due to differences in individual’s way of doing things, poor leadership of the team if especially the mode of communication the team adopts is very centralised.

Cranny, Smith, and Stone, (1992) identify personality differences as another cause of team failure given the fact that individuals may fail to work together if they have major or irrec...

My Personal Development Planning

It also helps to define the appropriate development to meet those perceived needs. Scheduling and timing are important but cannot be too regimented.” (Personal Development Planning time management).

Time is one of the most essential elements of human life and its proper management is required for the personal development of human beings. Time management has been defined in different ways and a good understanding of the concept may be arrived at from the following definitions. “Time management is a set of principles, practices, skills, tools, and systems that work together to help you get more value out of your time with the aim of improving the quality of your life.” (Definition of Time Management. 200...

Does Terrorism Work as a Means of Changing World Policies

That is the dilemma associated with terrorism--- the double-edged weapon. The old saying that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, is still in vogue. A man belonging to Al-Qaeda can be a so-called freedom fighter for Bin-Laden but for President George Bush Government, he is simply a terrorist, who spills the blood of the innocents.

The basic and the debatable question here is whether terrorism really works in the present scenario in changing the Governments and their opinions? There appears to be a number of instances across the globe wherein it has been felt that terrorists, except killing innocents and making media headings and stories, have generally failed in their deadly mission in toppling the dem...

Frustration at Work

Personal life is pretty different from professional undertakings.  An employee who knows how to take his personal life along with his professional life is considered as a balanced individual. He is a person who comprehends what his responsibilities are and how best he can deliver in the line of duty – both at the domestic front as well as on the side of the organization. Personal life must not influence his professional agenda and a similarly professional angle should remain within the four walls of the office and official issues must never be discussed in the luxury of his home. He must dedicate his energies towards work when he is at the office and remain loyal and fully devoted to his family when he is at home. Th...

The Work Breakdown Structure and its Advantages in Project Planning

A typical construction project involves a WBS that evolves from an initial task that is successively subdivided into smaller work blocks until the lowest level is reached, indicating a tree-like structure. Subdividing the project breaks down the project work effort into packages that are both manageable and independent. It connotes that the lowest level of the package corresponds to the smallest project work, which requires the shortest completion time periods. As WBS shows the relationship of all elements of a project, a sound basis for cost and schedule control is provided.

Some lists of project activities involved in WBS include budgeting, cost allocation, time allocation and management, and quality assurance. These...

The Person and the Work of the Holy Spirit in John's Gospel

Prior to the real time events of the New Testament, the Old Testament revisited an idea which simply dictated that God was an entity and the only God was Ruah. The New Testament came with a series of events which changed everything from the cessation to offerings and sacrifices to an ideology of the Holy Trinity. Jesus is noted as being “anointed with the Holy Spirit” in John 1 32-34. This stands to reason that ther is a differentiation and somewhat autonomy between the three facets of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity is of course, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. This is essentially a three in one or a unification of the elements of God. In John’s gospel, he seemingly avoids the dramatic details of the Holy Spi...

The Hard Work of UNHCR

Towards this direction, in the study of Atlani (2000) it is noticed that ‘there is a growing sense of urgency within international humanitarian aid agencies to intervene quickly when faced with organized violence stemming from war or armed conflict; from this perspective, the rape of refugees calls for prompt psychological intervention’ (Atlani, 2000, 435). In accordance with the above study, the provision of humanitarian aid has to be multidimensional. Apart from food, drugs and clothing, people in developing countries need to be supported psychologically – in many countries around the world, strong military conflicts are being developed on a daily basis. United Nations – an organization that serves the in...

The Architectural Qualities of The Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The plan is to develop an iconic area within the Golden Triangle, a commercial hub of the capital district to exemplify Malaysia as a fully developed nation in the world. The Twin Towers and its outlying areas as a consequence are set as a response to the challenge of transforming KLCC into information technology and environmentally friendly city without losing its cultural heritage. The Twin Towers have also been designed as a response to climate change and the sense of adapting contemporary design into space, place and culture of Malaysia. What makes the Twin Towers unique is that it is considered one of the tallest buildings (at 452 meters) in the world, ranking among Sears Towers, Empire State Building in the US and Taipei 101...

My History as a Writer

One of the main problems that I came across during my first few months in America was the language barrier. I have learned how to speak the English language while I was a student in Jordan but what I learned in school was not the same as the language used in the streets of the United States. My American friends thought that my English sounded funny and that my choices of words were often awkward. Because of the language barrier, I found it hard to get my message across. Many times, I had to explain at length to my friends what I really wanted. Luckily, my ability to communicate improved with time. After living here in the United States for some time, I became more proficient at expressing myself in English. Yes, there are still ti...
