Preservation of the Illinois Wetlands Introduction The wetlands of Illinois were extensively reduced after the settlement by the Europeans and were drastically being emaciated until measures to preserve them were put in place with the help of government and community members. Over 40% of those species which are considered endangered are found in these wetlands. Restoration efforts were carried out and are still underway with the main aim of preserving the wetlands and balancing human settlement with other ecological species that highly depend on these wetlands presence for survival (Anderson and Brown 168-172).

This paper therefore; will study the conservation measures aimed at preserving the wetlands of Illinois and this will put into consideration some of the projects underway at the site plus answering some important questions about the wetlands and preservation measures as far as the scope of this paper is concerned. The key questions to be addressed here include: What conservation measures are being taken to preserve the wetlands? How effective have these measures been in tackling the issue of wetlands preservation in the Illinois?

Are these measures of preservation creating any conflict between the community and the preservation stakeholders? What impact have these projects of wetlands preservation had so far in ensuring that the wetlands are preserved and that the ecosystem is restored? Are there changes that could be done on the process of preserving these wetlands to make the projects more effective? Hypotheses H1: the preservation measures have not achieved much as had been anticipated. H2: the goals and objectives of wetlands preservation in Illinois have been met effectively.

This project is very important to my field of study because it will help me understand the ecosystem, its conservation measures, and the effectiveness of preservation projects within certain settings, which will contribute immensely to the development of my career and knowledge and how to incorporate E-commerce in operations to ensure environmental friendly practices. I have done other researches but not as major as this. The researches I have done were simply based on secondary reviews and thus this project will give me more hands-on experience and insights into real project research process.

Discussion Wetlands form some of the fast and most disappearing habitats on earth, most especially in the northern part of America. Their productivity in terms of hosting and propagating wildlife is high to an extent that they are the only known sources of complete wildlife survival without external interference since they are self-reliant (City of Chicago 4-22). They do control flooding too and trap various sediments full of chemicals that could pollute the environment. Many agencies in government and non-governmental organizations have been involved in the preservation of wetlands and have recorded much success, albeit with some resistance from gullible developers (Anderson and Brown 168-172).

Many projects have been carried out on Illinois wetlands with the aim of preserving them. Some of these projects include the one run by Ducks Unlimited which runs a frontage on the river of Illinois with the aim of preserving it together with other threated species of wildlife and this was to be done through restoring Wightman Lake. This project has managed to build a control structure for the Crane Lake at Sanganois State Fish and Wildlife Area found in Mason County; and Waterfowl Management Area at Salt Creek; among others that are still ongoing (Schenck).

This research will employ scientific approaches and techniques that have been proven useful and credible in such kinds of research to make it more relevant. The research project will use Microsoft Word to present its findings. I will also be able to collect secondary materials from the library for review and other documents from the web to assist in shedding more light on the preservation of wetlands. Websites on preservation of various projects across the US will be helpful. The instructor will be very helpful in guiding me through the process and ensuring that some areas which I have left out are pointed out and well addressed. This will assist in ensuring that the research project turns out to be a success. Conclusion The importance of preserving wetlands such as these of Illinois cannot be overemphasized. It is necessary to do enough research so that others who might want to use it could find it easy. This research will also create an insight into some issues that might have been ignored or not known about the preservation of wetlands in Illinois and shed more light on ways of addressing them.

The possibilities of this research eliciting further informed debates are high. A thorough analysis of data gathered will be very essential in increasing the credibility of this research project. Proper measures will be taken to ensure that ethical issues related to research are fully addressed.
