Need and Importance of Graphic Designs Graphic designs actually meant for communication and problem solving by using visual images. Graphic designs cover a large area of combination of words; images and any other aid material like symbols in order convey the idea or the content of the message. There can be several techniques, which a graphic designer may use in order to represent his idea. The common uses may include brand logos, publication marks, print advertisements, website graphics, road signs, project presentations, comic books, cartoon movies and many other different signs. All of these graphic designs are very important necessary to be present at their place. Actually, the graphic designers are making a combination of visual sensitivity and their imaginary creative ideas in order to facilitate the communication process. In this technological era, graphic designing is now become a major industry in the economy of any country. Here it is also important to note that the use of graphics may depend on the geographical area also (Grey 2). We may find difference in different areas’ artwork. Graphic designing is actually a skilled or expert art of communicating the message content in an understandable way. The other way of communicating the message is called verbal communication i.e. delivering message through talking, but this art of using visual aid is graphic design. There is a famous quotation that a picture is thousand times more valuable than verbal words. This quotation teaches us the importance of graphic designs. For this reason, we can say that our world needs the graphic designs in order to accomplish the communication cycle and various other activities (Graphic Design 1). The use of graphic designing is widely spread now in almost every field of life because of delivery of desired message in a very short time. Another advantage is that common people may take more interest in a visual message as compare to a paragraph statement, the fact remains same that both ways are containing same message, only the way or style is different. The historical perspective of graphic designing is also important to study. The medium to convey the visual message changes along with the passage of time. These may include plain walls, canvas, pottery, computer or monitor screen, books, paper, banners, broachers; landscape end even stones are also used for this graphical designing purpose. The historical presence of graphical art can be traced back thousands of years ago, when people were use to do art work on the stones and walls of the caves. Initially this was named as Rock and Cave art. After that rock and cave art, there comes the period when artists use these graphics in Holy Books, just for the ease of people that they may understand the message of the Holy Book. Old religious books are full of such visual graphics. They are the true picture of the expertise of artists of that old time. After the religious books, calligraphic art started and gain importance in a very short period. The craved pottery and miniatures are the modern models of graphical designing. In the earlier 19th century, William Morris took start of modern graphical designing (Poole 2). The modern graphical designing includes a variety of art work e.g. line work, communication with sign boards, famous company and brand logos, trademarks, posters, play cards, different signs showing culture, ethics, peace, danger and many other. The latest invention in the world of graphical designing is the use of animations. For example, cartoons are the best depiction of an animated graphical artwork. The main objective or the purpose of graphical designing is the clarification of the message content both it was rock and cave art and it is an animated cartoon series. The involvement of computer has advanced this graphical designing. In the past decade, all of the designs were made manually but now the experts have software for this purpose. They just put a command regarding their requirements and after some time they get their desired results (Warren & Bringhurst 2). There is a need of creative and innovative skills for doing this graphical designing artwork (The Importance of Graphics 2). This expertise is sometimes in-born for any individual and they polish their skills with continuous improvements. The basic building block of polishing the skills is the creativity in his artwork. This is the age of competition, every day we witness a new and entirely different advancement in any field. Similar is the case with graphical designing. Starting from rock and cave period, it is emerged in animations and other computer based technologies. These graphical designs not only clarify the content of the message but also organize it into a compact form (Why Graphic Design is Important 2). A compact and organized message will leave a good impression on the recipient also. In this way, the person who wants to deliver his message may get successful in his purpose. It is definite that a combination of perfect graphics, well-written message content and execution in an organized manner, will surely achieve its goal by hitting the right target at right time and right place. Some critics also argue that graphical designing is merely a game of pictures and nothing else. However, in actual it is a complete well looking package for all the recipients of the message content. If we call this 21st century as the internet age, then it would not be wrong at all. The internet is involved in almost every field and part of life that something seems to be missing if there is no internet. Graphical designing is also computer based now. The inventions of technology have revolutionized the graphical world also. This was all about the making of the graphics with the help of computer and internet technology, but now many researchers are of the opinion that companies should use the internet technology as the medium of advertising these graphical designs (Smith 1). The rapid growth of social media is positive sign and companies can use it for their own purpose. The marketing managers can plan to place a simple and short visual advertising message on the social networking websites. The viewers may have a glance at them. If they feel any interest then they may visit the company website for further details. These graphical designs play a crucial role for catching the viewer attention and thus making them familiar with the brand or the company logo in a short while. Generation Y people are usually named as the digital natives, and the marketing managers can easily hit or target these digital natives. A set of powerful designs will definitely ensure goal accomplishment for the company (Loris 2). The graphical designing can be used widely across different fields in the world. These graphics are actually the main elements in order to take attention of the reader or the viewer at once. These graphical designs can also be used as the supplement to the original text, thus clarifying the meaning of the message. These visuals sometimes make the message more interesting for the reader or the viewer and he fully understand the meaning of the message. Most of the magazines are full of graphical images in order to catch the attention of readers towards them. Businesspersons usually make flow charts and diagrams in order to aid the presentations of their yearly progress of the company. These flow charts and diagrams are actually a form of graphical designing. We can say that a business is incomplete without using such graphical designs. These business graphics were introduced by the end of 1970 when people start using personal computer in their job duties. Different types of graphical designs may include digital graphics, line work, editorial designs and packaging graphics (Linton 2). Marketing managers are included among the highest users of these graphical designs. Marketing campaign of any company or brand is incomplete without this graphical artwork. Marketers may accomplish brand logo, trade mark, packaging of the product, advertising aid and many other activities with the help of these graphical designing. The effectiveness of the advertisement increases because of the visual images (Importance of Graphics 1). Up to some extent, politicians are also using the graphics in order to aid their political activities and campaign. They use visual artwork for their promotions in the public. Education field is also included in the most frequent users of the graphical designs. Almost every type of textbook, relevant to any art or science subject contains these visual aids in order to supplement the text material of the book. In addition to textbooks, educational workshops, trainings and even meetings are also incomplete without these graphical designs. Entertainment industry is also a recurrent user of graphical work. The experts of film animations have introduced many new and revised technologies in this field. The process of innovations and creativity is continuous in this field. We may witness a new animated technology every morning when we wake up. Graphic designing field also face certain issues and challenges in their progress path. The real strength is to solve these problems in a flexible way so that it may not become a hurdle for the success of the designer or the company. The biggest problem, which the designers are facing these days, is the privacy of their designs. Usually the hackers take and copy the design on their own behalf. This will definitely bring down the morale of the designers that his or her creativity id stolen and now somebody else is using it with his own nametag on it. The companies must pay attention to these technological problems. Another challenge is the increasing competition among the designers. As the designers are now working online and everyone can easily access them without spending any single penny. This may reduce the boundaries between different states and thus there is a borderless competition among the graphic designers. The artwork is really very much time consuming. The designer may have to spend all his efforts for a single demanded design. However, the issue is that usually companies do not value these creations of the designers very much.
