In surgery they are said to be more accurate and precise. In the moral standards of the society, robots are deemed not to conform to the moral capacity of the society therefore they pose a challenge in the way they socialize with human beings. A doctor is supposed to be human to the patient that is to be friendly in the way they relate with patients. Robots are not able to portray this character as they are machines without souls. A robot lacks expressions which in the human race goes a long way to assure something. A doctor’s expression can either give hope to a patient or make them lose hope. In the field of medical psychology, human psychology (a part of medical psychology) robots are feared that one day they will turn against the people who created them. Close contact of the robots and human being is doomed to be fatal as control of the robot may be hard. Robots are generally machines that are created to perform a specific function that human beings perform. Introduction of robots in psychology goes further to state that it can be dangerous for the human. This is especially because robots cannot be able to fit into the shoes of the patient. This therefore creates the fear among patients that they are controlled or their issues are not heard or they lack a shoulder to cry on. This means that they can infringe on the rights of human beings where the control system is at fault. In the medical sector, the interactions of the humans and the robots should be closely monitored. This uncontrolled interactions in a healthcare centre may cause more harm than good putting into consideration the non avoidance of physical contact between the patient and the medical practitioner(robot in this case) Loss of privacy- robots are like computers that can be easily hacked to make information public. Robots also can give information to anyone who is able to operate it. The presence of a robot may also create a perception that a third party is present and therefore hard to convince a patient on the privacy. Personal loss of independence- the interactions between human beings and robots may be restricted or some areas become segregated only for robots. This inhibits human liberty to go anywhere they want. Also in the healthcare centers patients may not be able to integrate freely with the robots. Care of the elderly by robots- this may greatly lead to loss of dignity and isolation from socialization among the elderly. They are used to help in monitoring the behavior of the elderly and also their health. They are also used in this case to provide companionships. This reduces the interactions of the robots and the society. Some may feel neglected by the people they helped to be who they are (Geraci 2010). Therefore, more research is needed to bring effectiveness in the use of robotics in the healthcare provisions. The healthcare providers cite a lack of emotion portrayed by the robots. This is cemented by the fact that robots will never replace human care givers How these are mitigating the negative consequences of advancement in robotics It is thought that in the near future the robots will be able to perform certain functions such as replacing the caring hands of the nurse and also be able to perform surgeries. The question is whether use of robots will be able to insure human life as it’s the most important thing and reason why they have been introduced to the health sector. When surgeons are performing operations they need to be aside and leave the robot to perform the functions it is supposed to, in case of a breakdown the risk of infection increases this poses the question; who is responsible for that. Computers cannot really replace human life in care giving. This is reflected by the fact that human and computers have not really been able to communicate well. The introduction of robots to work alongside care givers rather than completely replacing the caregivers is one measure that should be taken as it will give security and also it will assure patients that they are in safe hands if a breakdown of the robots occurs (Zacharia & Geelen 2013). Also more advanced robots that can interact well without posing a problem to the human race should be introduced. This will increase the confidence of human beings without feeling like their human rights are being infringed. Also in provision of care to the elderly by caregivers the robots also should be introduced in line with humans. This will help to assure the elderly that they are part of society and the efficient health provided by the robots will also be assured. Conclusion Introduction of robotics in the health industry has booth its advantages and disadvantages. Robots are viewed to be very effective and that they can be used to reduce human error. They are most effective in surgeries where the risk of trembling of the human hand bringing dire effects of wrong cutting area reduced. They can also be fast therefore saving a lot of lives. Robots can also be used in Quarantined areas where diseases that are highly contagious are. This will work to reduce the risk of medical practitioners being infected by the same diseases. Robots can also be very effective in treatment of malignant cancer by rays as they will not be affected by the rays. They are also important as they can be used to reduce the cost of healthcare. They also come with their disadvantages as they do not have souls therefore cannot replace the emotions portrayed by human beings. They also are not perfect as they rely greatly on their maker and the commands they are given. This can create a scenario where human life is not secured therefore bring fear to the patients. Mechanical failures may also occur in the process of surgery and this may be fatal.
