An Unforgettable Experience” 10th January it was a beautiful day, my 21st birthday. I could hardly contain my happiness and kept thanking god for blessing me with such a wonderful life. Later in the evening, I sat at the dressing, gazing at myself in the mirror, admiring my dress which defined my curves so well. I could imagine the look on Ralston face when he would see me. Just then, I heard the doorbell ring and I rushed to open the door. There he was, standing with a charming smile, holding a bouquet of red roses which he knows are my favorite. “Happy birth day, darling” he said “Beautiful roses for my even beautiful girlfriend” “Thank you, Ralston, oh, I am so happy” I said, hugging him. “Hey, the celebrations has just began” We reached Marathon mall at around 7:00 pm, he had two movie tickets for “Couple’s retreat”. Watching a movie together is always fun, we sat holding hands, watching each other more than the movie. I spent the rest of the movie time, toying with his hair, which he loves. Next we, headed to Atlantis paradise island for dinner, a beautiful place, very close to my heart since at this very place, we met for the first time three years ago. We had our table reserved. Then arrived a beautiful, yummy chocolate cake resembling my chocolaty handsome sweetheart. I cut the cake, and we had champagne. Looking into each others eyes we clinked the glasses and he said, “You are my princess” “You are my prince” “You are my chocolate pie” “You are my ice cream” “You are my life” When I was about to reply he put his finger on my lips and said “would you like to spend the rest of your life with me?” I was so surprised and so happy at the same time. Tears rolling down my cheeks, I said “I would love to, this is really a magical moment”. After dinner, we went to the Johns bull store so that he would buy me a gift of my choice. This is the quality I value most about him, his acceptance. He never ever imposes his choice on me, be it clothes, or the movie we are going to watch or anything else. He always puts me first and then thinks about himself, what else could I ask for? Seriously, I never expected him to propose me, even though we are going around for some years and we enjoy each other’s company a lot. But whatever happens, happens for good, so, I thanked god in my heart for such a pleasant surprise. Hence, in order to mark this day I chose a promise ring for my self and a David Yurman jewelry set. We walked together hand in hand towards the car both of our hearts full with love and hope. Although I still couldn’t believe he proposed to me, really proposed? We never talked about it before. Around 12 a.m. we reached my house, I invited him inside for a cup of coffee; it was just an excuse to make him stay for some more time. He said, “Listen baby, there is an important ting I need to discuss with you” “Yes, I am listening” “I am going to Paris next week, and I don’t know for how long I’ll be gone” “What?” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, as all of my happiness seems to have suddenly vanished in thin air. “But, how can you, why you didn’t tell me this before?” “I didn’t want to spoil your day, Josette” “Listen to me, carefully” he said, holding my shoulders and making me sit on the chair. “I am going, there because my uncle, Robert, you remember I told you about him.” “He is going to set up a new branch in Paris as an expansion of his business, and he needs someone whom he can trust, to help him. He has even promised me that if I gain a good understanding about the branch’s operations and management he may make me the manager.” “For a life to go on, we must do something to build it” he said. “But I can not imagine spending even a day without you, you know that” I said. For a moment, I could hardly speak, my world seem to break down in front of me. I stared at him, “so is this a way you chose the end my special day?” “Well, can’t you see, I have started taking things seriously, now. He assured me that everything will be alright and we can hope for a bright and beautiful future ahead. In this way, my birthday which has stared with a note of happiness and hope, ended with a note of promise and faith.
