Business development planning provides an opportunity to the organisations to secure sustainable growth of the business and gain a competitive advantage over other existing brands (Belt et al., 2010). The main purpose of this assignment is to evaluate the development planning of the organisation, Dessert Parlour 252, to improve employability skills and suitability to serve a wide range of customers. Through discussing the business initiatives by Dessert Parlour 252, it is possible to understand the planning of the organisation for sustainable development.

  • 2. Development planning

In order to improve the organisational efficiency, the management team needs to increases employability and suitability of the business so that it is possible to serve a wide range of customers in the target market (Bilsland et al., 2014). The business has taken several strategic initiatives to encourage the employees and strengthen organisational resources to deliver quality products and services to the consumers as per their needs and preferences. As the market demand is changing rapidly in the recent years due to changes in the needs and preferences of the customers, it is quite difficult to deliver the right organisational products and services to the right customers (Ju et al., 2014). Therefore, it is essential to improve the employee’s efficiency and suitability to secure the future sustainable growth of the brand as well as career development of the organisational staffs. The business has taken some initiatives to improve the efficiency of the organisational employees and employability skills which will be discussed further:

  • Training and development:

Education and training is the main initiative of the business to share knowledge and technical know-how for getting the job done in more efficient way (Bilsland et al., 2014). The organisation tries to provide appropriate training which is helpful to develop own professional career. The investment in training and development program is therefore, an effective strategy for improving employee’s efficiency within the organisation. The company also provides internship to the staffs to give the opportunity of professional development. Proper internship of the organisation helps the students to understand their job responsibility and organisational work culture, which is necessary to work properly (Ju et al., 2014).

  • Implementation of ICT system:

Information and Communication Technology implementation is another initiative of the brand to foster sustainable growth in near future. ICT system within the organisation provides an opportunity to the employees to share all the organisational and market information (Lerman, 2013). Dessert Parlour 252 tries to implement it at workplace, so that the employees can work cooperatively without any work issues. This will help the organisational staff to access all the relevant information about the market demand as well as changing needs and preferences of the customers which is necessary to be identified for delivering quality products and services as per their needs (Bilsland et al., 2014). Therefore, it is important at workplace to foster collaboration and communication among the team members. ICT is also used for gaining feedback from the clients and the employees can improve own efficiency on the basis of given feedback (Benson et al., 2014). Henceforth, implementation of ICT system at workplace plays an important role in improving employability skills to deliver efficient service to the clients. In this recent years, information technology (IT) is crucial in Dessert Parlour 252 to use internet for finding market information and enter data into spreadsheet as well as design webpage to provide organisational information to the consumers. This will further provide an opportunity to develop technical skills of the organisational staff, which is essential for future career path.

  • Encourage creativity and critical thinking:

It is essential to encourage the employee’s creativity so that they can feel free to work for achieving organisational goals and objectives of the company in more efficient way. The company in this context encourages more technological innovation and motivate the employees to show their creativity to get the job done properly. This strategy further helps the employees to improve critical thinking skills which are essential for future career path (Bilsland et al., 2014). In the recent globalisation era, the organisations require more innovation to promote the brand at target market uniquely as well as gain a competitive advantage in the international market (Belt et al., 2010). Therefore, it will be beneficial to improve the critical thinking skills of employees for career development. Through critical thinking, the organisational staffs become efficient in making decisions and developing problem solving techniques at workplace. The employees can generate a variety of solutions for resolving any organisational issues and challenges (Lerman, 2013). It is advantageous for Dessert parlour 252 to gather reliable solutions and choose the best option which can save money as well as resolve the situation. Therefore, this planning is helpful for improving employability skills of the organisational staffs of Dessert Parlour 252.

  • Communication:

The organisation Dessert parlour 252 fosters more communication at workplace so that the employees can share their own views and market information at workplace. In order to improve employability kills of the organisational staffs, it is essential to improve their communicative skills so that they can interact with the organisational customers as well as strengthen internal communication with other team members (Lerman, 2013). Verbal and written communication therefore plays a crucial role at workplace to share knowledge and market information with each other (Ju et al., 2014). More knowledge about market demand and customer information helps the employees to serve quality products and services to them according to their needs and preferences. Communication skills of the employees further provides a scope to build an efficient team and cooperative work practice at workplace (Belt et al., 2010). Due to these reasons, the organisation Dessert Parlour 252 tries to build more communication with the team members, so that they can improve own efficiency and can work cooperatively for achieving organisational goals.

In order to improve suitability of working within the organisation, the company Dessert Parlour 252 also has taken some initiatives so that the employees can work freely. The strategies can be discussed further:

  • Leadership style:

Leadership style plays a crucial role in improving suitability and run the business activities ethically. The organisation Dessert Parlour 252 mainly follows cooperative leadership style in which the leader or business owner tries to build relationship with the employees. Under this leadership style, the leader builds up communication with the employees and other organisational staffs to work in a cooperative manner (Benson et al., 2014). Thus, this work culture helps the employees to share their own views and understanding with the upper level managers or business owner, which is necessary for solving any operational issues (Ju et al., 2014). Moreover, through communication and interaction with others at workplace, the leaders can achieve organisational goal and objectives as well as the employees also can maximise wellbeing as per their needs. In addition to these work culture, the leaders under this leadership style tries to empower the employees in the decision making practice to share their views and select the best option. Therefore, cooperation in developing business planning is useful for the company to foster more sustainable development

  • Suitable work environment:

Appropriate work environment is necessary to work freely and the organisation tries to maintain safety and healthy rules and policies to serve better circumstances within Desert Parlour 252. Health and safety rules at workplace help the employees to feel safe and work freely without any workplace hazards. This is an effective strategy to run the business activities in suitable way without any ethical issues (Benson et al., 2014).

  • Maximisation of employee’s requirements:

The company tries to maximise the needs and preferences of the employees. The employees mainly have basic needs, psychological needs, self-esteem, belonging and self actualisation needs and Dessert Parlour 252 tries to meet all the requirements of the organisational staffs. The company provides proper wages to the employees as well as gives performance related pay and incentives to them, which is essential for motivating the organisational staffs. These motivational tolls are essential for the employees to work efficiently and fulfil their needs.

                            The Dessert Parlour 252 implements several business strategies to improve employability skills and suitability of running the business activities successfully. In this regard, the company took several initiatives through which the employees also gain the opportunity to develop professional career. Training and development, ICT system implementation and encouraging creativity and innovating are the major steps that Dessert Parlour 252 has taken for improving employability skills. Moreover, maintaining health and safety legislations at workplace, following cooperative leadership and fulfilling the needs of the employees are the further initiatives taken by the company for running the business ethically and increasing suitability of conducting the operational activities. Therefore these initiatives are essential to improve employability skills, critical thinking interpersonal skills and communicative skills to develop professional career.
