The strategic policy document will be revised to include the key strategy of developing the sustainable environmental company. Establishment of green policy Tiny Opera Company aims to become the most sustainable theater and performing arts Company in the country. The policy changes aim to make the sustainability in all the key components of the operations. Tiny Opera Company will inspire the all the stakeholders including the staff, audience, guests and suppliers to join hands in the promotion of sustainability. Tiny Opera Company will deliver the policy in the following ways Tiny Opera Company recognizes the impact of small changes that can be made immediately as the starting points towards improving sustainability. The company will reduce the resource consumption and waste production by comparing data from previous years to understand the sustainability curve. Communication of sustainable targets and practices to the audience, staff, community and seek their views and suggestions on the matter of sustainability. Tiny Opera Company will participate in local, national and international fronts to champion’s environmental campaigns, initiatives that are geared towards creating sustainability. Tiny Opera Company seeks to achieve national and international external accreditations for excellence n the sustainability practices. Energy conservation and management I. Tiny Opera Company conducted and onsite energy review in 2012 and as a result, the company is to program all the reverse air conditioners in the office to automate them for better energy management. The air conditioners are manual, and the last employee is expected to switch them off, but this rarely happens. The negligence of these workers results to misuse of energy and increase the cost of operation. II. Tiny Opera Company will install IEM power management module that will switch off computers that have been off for a certain period. III. Tiny Opera Company will have the last out. “Lights out policy” Signage will be all over to ensure all the lights are switched off by the last employee to leave the premises. These will enhance accountability and responsibility of the workers towards achieving accountability. IV. The 24 hr external building lights will be reduced and install the automatic after hours turn off any lights left in the foyer spaces. V. The HVAC systems in the main building will be programmed to ensure maximum efficiency. Air conditioning plants should be cleaned and monthly to ensure optimum performance and the system is on time control. VI. The car fleet is considerably large and will be reduced to increase the efficiency in the management of the cars. Sustainable procurement I. Tiny Opera Company will draft a sustainable policy on procurement which will state that all the building materials must be sourced within 100 km radius from the local suppliers. II. Tiny Opera Company will raise the awareness of local brands by sourcing and making use of these brands before looking for alternatives. Water management and conservation I. Tap fittings, dishwaters, and shower heads will have minimum water efficiency labeling ratings of 3 stars. II. Tiny Opera Company will undertake a landscaping in front of the premises. All the plants will be selected on a criterion based on water consumption and resilience to native conditions. III. Treatment of sewer before draining into rivers to guarantee the health safety of the users. Waste use and recovery I. E-waste will be returned to the manufacturers for recycling. The server room will be temperature controlled to prevent overheating of the hardware. All the new hardware bought must have high energy efficiency ratings. V. All the marketing materials including the programs shall be printed on accredited recycled product that meets the current industry standards. The materials should have accreditation logos to raise the awareness of about the recycled paper. All the printing will be done in default black and white and double-sided. VI. Tiny Opera Company restaurant will use forks, spoons, and plastic glasses made f recycled materials. Ceramics products will be encouraged due to the ease of washing and re-use in patron services. VII. Additional shelving to keep stock used in rehearsals and productions. These will enable loaning of these products to other independent companies to further encourage recycling. Culture sustainability I. Tiny Opera Company sustainability policy will be included in all the staff contracts to ensure all the employees area aware of the Tiny Opera Company initiatives towards achieving a sustainable and efficient theater and performing arts environment. II. The staff will be trained on the best practices for working in the building to ensure the facilities and resources are used in an efficient manner. These will reduce the wastes and ensure responsible and efficient usage of resources. III. All the staff are encouraged to use public transport to minimize the combustion gasses released to the environment from the automotive. IV. End of trip services such as the bicycle storage area. Showers and changing rooms shall be provided for the staff chooses to walk or cycle to work. Community and social impacts I. Tiny Opera Company will work with environmental stakeholders to create biodiversity in the environment. Tiny Opera Company will work with Bee one Third to repopulate the bees in the Sydney around River Precinct to support the sustainability of bees that are very important to the community. II. Tiny Opera Company will use the old advertising billboards as recycled tote bags. They will be corporate gifts promoting the company and as a move to motivate other to enhance sustainability. III. Tiny Opera Company will enact a policy on theater access and a commercial venue hire program to give the community a chance to use the facility. Theater access as increased by more than 23% due to the increased spaces. These will expose the artists and hires to Tiny Opera Company sustainability ethos and enable them to use existing materials. IV. Tiny Opera Company will focus on visible commitment towards visible commitment to sustainability. Installation of two green walls and plants throughout the courtyard will create a natural haven of theater often referred to as “The Green House”. Plants assist in cleaning the air and reducing sound pollution since the buildings are surrounded by busy roads. Future plans I. Tiny Opera Company will make a switch to green power. The company will install solar panels that will be expected to reduce the annual consumption by 125,000 kWh that is equivalent to 30% reduction and still reduce the carbon emissions of 152 tons. II.
