IT Industry Name: Institution: IT Industry Information Technology is the system by which data is made, processed and stored on computers by the use of networking, defined processes, and technology. It includes gathering, retrieving and allocating information. Information Technology is instrumental in many fields including healthcare, hospitality and the public sector. Information technology involves the use of advanced technological systems in everyday life to create systematic ways or storing, processing and sending information. It is an integral part of daily life and applies to almost every aspect of modern day living. Information Technology has evolved over some years unto where it has currently reached. The first ever used computers were giant calculators that were capable of processing and changing numbers and finally expanding them and processing the information received. These were used mostly on such platforms, as airlines and travel agencies (Pinkerton, 2015).Technically, there were computers created until around the 1980s, when the first original model emerged. This was when the first PC occurred for use. The PC applied well to home-based activities and was a simple mainframe. Currently, a new phase of evolution in IT is underway with the development of new systems and new concepts in the world of IT. These new systems consist of the latest gadgets and technological advances in the field of IT. The development of IT has led the development of computer and network technology that has operated by new dimension in computer program handling and management. Furthermore, the introduction of more efficient processors has enabled quicker work input. Information Technology is a broad aspect and it in itself consists of several components. These components are the several defined structures that form the basis of information technology and help to define the field (Preston, 2013).Each one of them is equally significant to the basic operations of the IT Sector, and therefore without them then IT would be incomplete. They all make up an integral part of the normal function of any unit of technology that runs on the IT mechanisms and principles. Computer Technology Computer technology is a vital entity in the transmission of information and the processes that it comprises. The ability of advanced systems to efficiently index services to computerized databases enables the efficient relay of information from one medium to another. Furthermore, this device performs multiple operations and giving out a set of instructions at high speeds (Revard&Aubert, 2014). The storage capacity of a computer can enable the access to a large number of characters of data in its storage.Furthermore, the processing and storage unit of this machine can access information from anywhere in the globe in an instance. Computers have improved over the last few years, and though they are relatively cheaper in price, they have better memory, faster processors, and computational speed. These computers have precision, accuracy, speed and can manipulate large amounts of data in short time frames.Furthermore, these machines can be categorized into four groups that are mainly; microcomputers, microprocessors, minicomputers, mainframe computers and supercomputers. Computers themselves have evolved over time, from the first generation computers to the fifth generation computers, and the current latest generation of computer is capable of efficiently handling larger volumes of data at quicker speeds. The ability of computers to solve many of man's problems has a lot to do with the many improvements to the equipment, as well as the additional gadgets that accompany the computer such as the printer, the laser, fiber optics, silicon chip, and the internet as well as other technological advanced devices. Communication Technology Recent changes in the IT sector have enabled significant growth in communication that has effected changes to the IT sector. Communication deals with the analysis of the passing of information and the passing of messages from one person to another. There are always two mediums in communication, mainly the sender and the receiver of the message (Preston, 2013). It is a continuous process of the exchange of facts and ideas. There are various modes of communication including oral, verbal, audio-visual, written and mass media communication. The process of communication involves encoding a message and translating it before sending it to the receiver. Furthermore, there are many theories involved in the discussion, and these fundamental methods help one to understand the basic communication process. Moreover, this model in electronics communication, measures the units of information transmitted over the technical channel (Stoyles, Pentland&Demant, 2014). The information theory of communication involves such components as data processing and information science. This particular theory is an interdisciplinary approach. Communication technology is advantageous in various ways, including its ability to save time and cost, and its overall efficiency. Communication in itself requires several different outputs to function properly. It requires the availability of transmitter, the message, the symbols, the channel through which the message goes, the decoding of the message, the receiver of the message, and it requires a particular action as well as the necessary feedback. All these components are necessary for communication to occur. Telecommunication Technology Telecommunications comprises of the tools and the various methods that apply for the transmission of messages over long distances. These messages can go through different methods including radio and satellite. Communication has evolved over the past few years, and it developed as long ago as 1844 when the telegraph came into use. Later on after the Morse code emerged, Graham Bell brought about innovation that changed technology forever, and this was the invention of the telephone. Communications has changed over the last few years, and the revolution in communication occurred in 1947 when William Watson was able to demonstrate that electricity could transmit by an electrostatic source over a two-mile radius (Preston, 2013). Later on, the development of cables with increased capability and the implementation of fiber optic cable technology brought significant development in the field of technology. Furthermore, significant developments in technology can be seen in the development of telephones from simple communications to gadgets with full multimedia capabilities. Lately, there have been some telecommunication tools available for use including the telegram, the telegraph, telephone, telex, teleprompter and more. All these are essential in modern technology and have enabled easier communication between two mediums. They are all indispensable in the IT sector and have made communication more efficient over recent times. Therefore, for the efficient transmission of the communication, all these necessary components have to be in place. Satellite Communication Technology Satellite technology is one of the more recent and advanced components of IT. This form of technology began coming into use in the 30s and 40s, as scientists attempted to set up communication systems by bouncing weather balloons. In 1946, one researcher developed methods to use the moon to bounce off signals. Later on, the NASA and the Soviet Union developed methods of communication and surveillance by use of satellite signals. The difference between the artificial satellite and the real one is its ability to amplify signals before sending them back. Communication satellites can transmit signal waves all over the earth. They contain several transponders, each of which is capable of listening to a part of a spectrum. They receive incoming signals, amplify them, and then rebroadcast them into another frequency to avoid interference with other incoming signals (Rivard&Aubert, 2014).These satellites rotate around the earth, and the ground station antenna remains positioned in one place. This process enables the satellite to transmit information from one part of the globe to another in a matter of seconds. Satellite technology is the most advanced and powerful form of communication in modern times. Telephone companies can distribute and process data because of the thousands of satellites in orbit, and communication around the world is getting affordable and faster. Terrestrial fiber communications have also been another significant development (Pinkerton, 2015). Telephone companies have managed to replace their long haul networks with fiber and high bandwidth services. Terrestrial fiber connections have become a fundamental part of all the communication channels. The ability of satellite technology to improve the speed and efficiency of communication is a significant technological development. Computer Communication Technology The emergence of computers as an important part of communication has brought about the appearance of a new form of technology known as Computer Communication Technology. The computer in itself is a technological device that carries out calculative functions at high speeds (Preston, 2013).It stores and processes information and is capable of processing calculations through data processing machinery. Thus, the primary function of computers is to compute, to store information and to control information processing and storage. The computer consists of several components that assist it to transmit information. The input is the part of the network that deals with such components as media, techniques, and devices. The processor contains a systematic series of operations that assist the computer in receiving the desired results. The output is the part of the network that relates to the transfer of information out of the computer into any device outside the computer such as the screens, printers, etc.All these components have to function concurrently for the computer to work efficiently. Networks are important aspects of the process of computer communication because they enable many users to be able to share a mutual pathway through which they communicate. Computer communication networks allow the computing and interweaving of communication through a series of complex processes (Rivard&Aubert, 2014). Networks are multiple connected, meaning that it is possible to connect a computer or terminal through other computers and various channels. Networks are shared, and this enables several terminals to translate data at the same time simultaneously. Networks are multiplexing, meaning that they permit several terminals to convert data over the same transmission line simultaneously (Preston, 2013). They are also message packing, and this means that they can interweave data into the line so that idle periods of one transmitter can send data to another. The computer consists of both the software and hardware. The software consists of the programs and the data while the hardware of the computer consists of the physical equipment and the associated devices. The information technology field is a vibrant career field that offers a range of career opportunities in various areas, thus enabling one to practice a whole variety of jobs based on technology. One can be an IT Consultant, and this position allows one to use their expertise to assist in the IT department. One can also be a cloud architect, and this particular job allows one to organize storage systems for data within the systems. Another career associated with this profession is the mobile application, developer. This position enables one to create mobile applications for use (Stoyles, Pentland&Demant, 2014). A web developer creates web pages, web applications, and content. They, therefore, are fundamental in the IT sector. The software engineer is another career that a person can take with the understanding of information technology. One can also be a data modeler, and this particular job enables one to create data designs and define data field relations. References Pinkerton, J. (2015). Understanding information technology.
