Student Names Professor Class Name Date Why I would like to be Part of the Amish Community Amish is a community that live in America, and is thought to be a special group because it does not prefer living a modern live. The traditional cultures are preserved, and many people have found it difficult to adapt the life. It is believed that the people who have ever lived a modern life cannot adapt to the traditional ways of the Amish community. I understand that changing to Amish way of life is difficult, but it is possible for a person who is willing to persevere. I understand that modern life is good and easier, but the advantages of living the Amish life is far much better than living the modern life. Even though many people do not succeed in joining the Amish community, many have tried, and the number is a good indicator that many people wish to live like the Amish people do. Some people have ever thought of changing to become part of the Amish community. However, there are individuals who have found that living in towns is a stressing thing. Some have preferred to go to rural areas where they can work using their internet and at the same time enjoy the environment where there is space to play and engage in exercise. In the rural areas, the people can enjoy the serene environment without noise from vehicles and factories. Accidents are rare in these places. Crimes are also very low (Kraybill, 42). By doing this, the people end up adapting some of the activities that the Amish community engage in. this is a good indicator that many people wish to join the Amish people because they are aware of the advantages of the same. Here, I discuss why I wish to join the Amish community. I will achieve this by discussing the advantages of being a member of Amish society. One of the values that the Amish community highly value is the family relationships. The people believe that family support is very important, and everyone has a duty of taking care of the family members. When an Amish family member has problems, there is a need of ensuring that they receive the necessary support. The marriages are taken seriously, and relations start from the time of courtship. Everything is taken seriously, and this is why the married couples end up being responsible parents. Every human being wishes to be part of a family that supports them. Having a good family with responsible children is a dream of every young person. However, this has become difficult to achieve in the current world. Getting the right marriage partner is not easy, and family conflicts are the order of the day in the modern world. Broken marriages lead to suffering children and no one wishes such a thing to happen. This reason motivates me to become a member of the Amish community. Joining the Amish community will help me avoid living a stress-free live where I will feel that I am supported by people close to me. Every human being has to satisfy social needs, and this can be satisfied by the Amish community. The close relationship with the people will make me a happy person. The live will enable me raise my children in a good environment where all my responsibilities as a parent will be achieved (Kraybill 75). My children will grow to be responsible children with the support of the two parents and the support of a larger family. I will avoid problems such as divorce that can be lead to a stressful life and which can be dangerous for my future children. With the new technology, people fail to show their love to their relatives. With mobile phones and other communication gadgets, people spend a lot of time without meeting with the people they love. Joining the Amish community will ensure that I am close to people who are important to me. This will help me show love to them and support them every day. Some people are against the Amish life because the children in the community fail to get a modern education that other children of their age get. However, Amish education is better than any other modern education. The modern education waste people’s time since many spends a lot of time in school. They learn theory that may not be applicable in the day to day life. In the Amish society, the children go to school up to the age of 14. At this age, most of them have basic education and the rest of the education involve practical training on physical activities that provide them with a source of livelihood. The community is rich in natural agricultural products that many people desire to have. It means that even though people have shifted from their previous traditional ways, they still desire the natural products that can only be found in Amish community. I, therefore, believe that the education is as good as a modern education because these people are able to meet all their basic needs with the economic activities they engage in. since they start working at a tender age, it means that the value of their lives is maximized (Kraybill 68). The Amish people are religious and practice their religious beliefs in their everyday life. Many people belief in the existence of God regardless of their behavior. It means that people know the truth but have failed to conform to the religious beliefs. People end up regretting after they find out that their lives have been ruined by their failure to obey the religious teachings. When an individual interacts with friends who do not care about their religious beliefs, they end up behaving as their friends behave hence go far away from their God. This is not right. I have the desire of following the will of God, and the best way to achieve this is by joining the Amish society. By joining the Amish community, it will be easy to be a religious person. The people in the society are committed to their God, and their practice will encourage me to practice the same. With their support and advice, it will be easy to become a good religious person. I will not be tempted to engage in the worldly pleasures because the environment provided by the Amish community will be helping me forget the worldly pleasures. The Amish people do not suffer from diseases that people in the rest of the world suffer. These people eat natural foods that are grown without chemicals. This means that the food products that the Amish people eat are not likely to cause any lifestyle related diseases. These people do not eat processed foods such as chips, cakes and other foods that have a high concentration of sugars, fats and salt. Because of Amish religious beliefs, the community does not take alcohol, and this means that diseases such as cancer and heart related diseases are rare (Kraybill 71). The people have big fields to exercise and the activities that they engage in ensuring that they burn any extra calories in their bodies. It is rare to find obese individuals in the community. This is also an assurance that these people do not suffer from lifestyle related diseases. In addition to this, the people have their traditional alternative medicine that they use in the treatment of diseases that affect the members of the society. With the believe in prayers, people also get healed, and this makes life simple. Every human being has a wish to have good health and remain physically fit. I admire the life where I will never have to attend hospitals from time to time. Being a member of Amish society will also ensure that I do not suffer from dangerous diseases. I will be assured of living a longer life that is more productive as compared to living in the modern society and suffering from dangerous ailments that hinder my capacity to engage in productive economic activities. The Amish people not believe in the use of technology. Though the technology has been of benefit to the world, it has brought many negative effects to the people. The social relationships between people have been cut because people have become used to mobile phone and do not need to meet physically. Other technologies waste time for many youths that could have been used in productive purposes (Kraybill 77). An example is the use of social media that waste the time of many people and hinder their productivity. Being an Amish will ensure that I spend my time well and facilitate the improvement of my well-being and that of the society. Amish people use simple methods of transport instead of using vehicles. Though the means used are slow, there are no incidences of accidents that can lead to deaths. This means that people are safe from accidents if they belong to the Amish society. Though difficult to adapt to the new lifestyle, it will be of benefit because I will be assured of living a longer life. In conclusion, the decision to join the Amish society seems to be a very good idea in my view. I expect many challenges that I will face in the process of adjusting to a new society. The good thing is that the benefits of joining the society are great. This is why I am determined to ensure that I successfully adapt to the new culture. I will be able to live a simple life and a more productive life that has fewer distractions. I will have a good environment that will give me a chance to thank and respect my creator. It will also be beneficial to live a good life with less medical problems. Living a longer and more productive life will be my dream. Works Cited Kraybill, Donald B, Steven M.
