Reflective Journal Student’s name Institution Date Value survey Description of the Value survey result From survey results of my values, hope is ranking high of the twenty-four values closely followed by honesty. Other values on the top five in order of strength included perseverance, kindness, and leadership. The values with low strength in bottom five of the twenty-four values included love of learning, curiosity, humility, and forgiveness. This a true revelation as it simulates the real me. The other values that were of moderate strength according to ranking included love of a close relationship, creativity and thinking of new things, fairness where I subject everyone to fair treatment. Social intelligence is another value where I am conscious of the feeling of other people, which is true value that makes me relate well with different people from different occupation. Then there zest, a value that depict the excitement that I approach what I do. Interpretation of the value survey results From the ranking of the values, the insight that I made is the reason why I do not retain old friends that we parted ways. Once we confront each other forgiving is a value that it is usually weak in my mind. The placement of forgiving as last value can explain why the many projects that we have co-founded with my friends ended up splitting without easily coming into reconciliation of ideas but rather equity split. This study has given many insights that I can perfect on in future. Another revelation is hope. Hope is a value ranking high on the 24 values surveyed. This explains the projects that I have started with the hope they will come to a successful conclusion. Good enough, to my revelation, the value of perseverance is ranking third out of the 24 values meaning I have I believe that destiny is within my control with hope and spirit of actualizing on the future can be held with my perseverance. The entire project I will start will get the backing of values such as zest, kindness, social intelligence, fairness, and bravery. Evaluation of my value survey results My opinion on values survey result is that the revelation why relationship once broken it has been hard to recover. The forgiving spirit is so weak that why it is ranking lowly. This survey has been of great help since starting projected and breaking up at the initial stages without reconciliation is so humiliating and retrogressive. This is the reason many companies ended up in equity split because the spirit of forgiving and working together is so weak. Plan for using information for future The information and the insights I have received herein and in the survey, I will use it to strengthen values that are ranking low such as forgiving. This will be of importance to keep friends doing the same projects. In addition, it is not understandable why social intelligence should have a higher-ranking while the spirit of forgiving is last on the survey. I will do many work ups on the forgiving spirit. Finally, I will explore my leadership acumen that has been revealed by the study. Self-awareness Description of Self-assessment test Self-awareness is a very imperative aspect of human being for the health of mind and the success of whatever he or she does (Goleman, 2009 pg. 987). It is a state where one has a realistic perception of who she or he is. Self-awareness of human being has a direct linkage with both success and emotional intelligence. It is through it that people make achievable and realistic goals. This is because with healthy self-awareness one knows the limits of his or her strength, the weakness, and the motivating factor during the time of setting the goals. In an awareness of what self-awareness entails, the following self-awareness test has a lot. The score is average on the pre-assessment where the score is 52 out of possible 66. The least score was two where the test focused on weather I have good sense of how I cope with uncertain situations. On the test of whether I usually feel angry without knowing the underlying reason also scored second least on the test. The score was 4 out of possible 6 and it was equivalent of slight agreement with the assertion of the test question. The highest core came from the feeling of being in charge of whatever happens good or bad to me. Interpretation of the self-awareness test result These results have reasons why they turned out to be the way they are. They have implications that need interpretations. The interpretation that will be made hereby will be an adequate explanation of position of my self-awareness. Primarily I had a score of 53 out of possible 66 marks. This in percentage is 80%. In other words, I am aware of whom I am. From the scoring key is clear that I have a score of 24 of self-disclosure and openness to feedback to others meaning the result shown hereby is reliable. Also in the key is shown that the awareness of own values, cognitive styles and change orientation had 28 meaning that it is possible to work on the weakness and transform them into future strength. This is drawn from the change orientation. The major weakness is the lack of adequate sense in uncertain situations, which saw me scoring 2 out possible 6. The insights that I can draw form this self-assessment test is that I’m not bad as I had thought I was before going through the assessment. Evaluation of the self-assessment test result My opinion on this experience is that whatever I have been planning to do in my life was not being overambitious as I thought before or said by my friend. All that was realistic and within the limits of my capacity to execute them. The value of this experience is so profound in my future deeds as imp assured most of what my friends said was grandiose ideas ware real and achievable. Plan of using this information in future I will apply the new insight that I have received from this experience to pursue my dreams without being discouraged by my friends who they are likely to be lacking the self-awareness. I will have to polish on my weakness and work more on my strength as expressed by this test so as realize my dreams of establishing a company. Emotional intelligence test Description of the emotional intelligence results The total score was 80 out of the possible 100 indicating emotional stability and intelligent. On the emotional awareness, I scored 10 out of possible 30 marks, which seemed I was not aware of what is happening emotionally and have poor priorities when it comes to confronting the emotional impasse. The next test was on the emotional control or balance. On this segment, I managed to score 20 out of maximum 30 marks. This was indicative that I only confront issues but in not in the presence of those affected. The emotional control is within reach according to the results. On the emotional response, I had a score of 20 out of possible 30 marks showing have a good emotional control. Finally, on emotional diagnosis I had the highest where the mark was at 30 out of the possible 30, which indicate my sensitivity to emotional issues. Interpretation of the results From these results of emotional test, I have gained many insights. First, I have a very stable emotional stability of 80%. This is indicative of bigger control of my temperament which when left alone can affect the sociability with the friends. There is one segment that I scored the least marks, which was on emotional control and balance where I scored 20 out of 30. This has the revelation as to why I cannot tolerate emotional confrontation for so long without it getting out of control span. The good thing is that I am sensitive to the emotional issues. On this segment of emotional diagnosis where I scored 30 out of 30, the highest of all segments enables me to realize when emotions are driving my movements and decision. Evaluation of the emotional test results From this description and interpretation, I have an opinion that a lot of workups to be done to master the control of my emotions. Areas such as the emotional balance and controls have coasted some aspect of my social life because of low tolerance levels. The realization of an emotional issue ought to be the beginning of its tolerance level. Nevertheless, from the evaluation it has seen that the score on diagnosis is far much higher (optimal) but the tolerance of what has been diagnosed is far much lower. This result they are of value, as they will give me a way of strengthening the weakness (Bradberry, 2009 pg.456) Plan of using the information in future These results will enable me to strengthen my leadership values. A good leader is the one who has control of his own emotional deviation. Having knowing my weak areas, I will stabilize using this information of the emotional intelligence test so that I can a robust leadership advantage than is unwavering by the emotional deviation. Stress reduction techniques Description of the stress reduction technique Stress is one of the component that can deny one peace of mind. For this reason, it needs good management strategies to deal with them as they appear. Stress cannot be eliminated though they can be managed. Immediate action need to be taken to ensure that as the stressor appears it is dealt with accordingly without wasting time. Therefore, there is quick and convenient relaxation strategies such as exercise, meditating, taking a brain power nap, using guided imagery tapes, taking aromatherapy bath, listen to Mozart or other music, using hypnotherapy, taking holiday and stopping being receptacle for the world problem. These are among the remedies of the over appearing stressors. They are temporal means of dealing with stress but they have long-term solution to stress in the end. Interpretation of the technique Mostly I have been stressed up with issues that should be solved as they appear. That is the insight that I can link up with this description. For example, when there is economic downturn and other global financial issues then it finds way of interfering with my peace of mind. The revelation of solution to this problem is simple: stop being receptacle to for world problem. This is one of the best solution to that problem, as world problem should not cause individual problem. Another thing that I have received a revelation is being workaholic. This is the number one cause of my stressors. Taking a rest or a long energizing nap or even holiday can be a redress to this stressor or any other, rest help to relax ones brain. Evaluation of the techniques This experience is of many redress to my many stressors. To increase effectiveness and productivity does not mean working hard always but it can mean even resting. A productive and effectual being is the one with peace of mind as revealed here. My own opinion on this is that the little deficits that I have been experienced in productivity could be as result of stress that has been piling up without being tackled. Temporal and consistence dealing with stress is one of the best way of handling stress to any living being on earth. Plan of using the information in future My resolve on this knowledge in life henceforth: I will be handling stress, as they appear to avoid them from piling and affect my productivity. Working too much also does not mean being productive. I will be taking time to relax or visit places to holyday and relaxing my mind. In my busy schedule, I will create time to perform exercise and release the stressors. With that, I will leave stress free life in future (Zahavi, 2010. Pg. 345).
