Reflections Name Course Date Reflection 2 Environmental After reading a text over the news paper on environmental pollution it made me note about the effects and aftermath on the environment. The Australian city dwellers are found of throwing garbage out of their cars, houses, and even offices. The deteriorating health status of the people within Australian cities has greatly increased as a result of the pollution. From this view I realized the significance of reducing the waste we dispose as well as the best way to dispose the garbage such as leftover food and electronic parts. According to Blackburn (2012) - a reading undertaken during the coursework, individuals play a significant part in pollution of the environment and they also face the impacts of that pollution. As a result of this, I found a lot of attention with the concern of waste management or what most people term it as garbage disposal. The amount of waste collected in the country is a big problem that ought to be addressed through the application of reuse, recycling and reduction. For decades down the line the citizens of Australia have increased the rate at which there are throwing thing away than they did before- In 1960, the average amount of tons dumped was about 20 tons but the number has increased to around 160 million tons. This reading in addition to the text that I had read concerning environmental pollution made me think about the ways that garbage disposal and management could be achieved in my city and county at large. He also talked about the effects of pollution to future generations as well as the role that the current population has in regards to safeguarding of the environment. After comparing the reading, I realized that lack of sustainable environmental awareness could lead to national if not international health disaster. In Australia, we are developing contemporary strategies to curb the negative aftermath of pollution to the environment. For example, safe disposal strategies have been embedded in school curriculum to facilitate environmental pollution awareness. In addition, community city clean up participation days has been implemented to make sure that the city and its environs clean from garbage. After comparing the real life observation and coursework information I noticed that the content of waste substances includes batteries, nail polish, pestsides, over cleaners, etc. These solid wastes are as much as the solid waste from industries since it contains the same chemicals hence harmful to health. Millions of liquid waste seeped into nearby water on daily basis polluting the water. I realized that as a result of biological processes the waste decomposes and produces methane gas that is mined and used in several homes. If Garbage Landfill is not managed in the next three years then the size of garbage is projected to be 550 feet above sea level making it to be the same as twice the height of the Statue of liberty. Social In order to start the reduction of solid waste that has ended up in landfills we ought to first start to change our generation garbage to reduce its volume. The first step of this waste management practice starts at our homes. According to my observation people throw foodstuffs that are perfectly still consumable, if it is not needed then you should not buy it. It is evident that the reduction is at the top of the chain of effective waste management approaches. Despite the fact that people are very ready to grasp this idea it is hard for them to implement the process. Another method of reduction is employing reuse approach whereby an item once used can be repaired and used by another person for the same use or difference uses. In this procedure old items will not end up as trash but as best alternative. Upon revisiting a clip on waste management in class we found that the other best method of waste management is recycling. Everyone knows about recycling but the support of the idea behind it is the problem thus, it is of great concern that we adapt to this method of waste reduction since it is the easiest. I began to realize that there are about 87% of items that can be recycled in the world. I think that accumulation of waste in the environment has several demerits that pose threat to human beings as well as other living organisms. As much as waste product is hub to other useful products such as fertilizers, it threatens the life of people. Health concerns are one of the key problems associated with garbage. Pollution of the environment such as water by waste products as also threatened aquatic animals. Thus is of great concern that we as human beings reduce the rate at which we dispose our byproducts. Reflective 3 After a close review of career workbook I found it to be an interesting as well as a professional guiding tool. I noted that the workbook is an important tool towards professional understanding as it helped me to analyze my present life and work. It will also help me to make a decision on how satisfying and develop my skills towards my profession. The intention of career workbook is to offer a student with enough time to make personal reflection, so this idea based on the book was is very significant to me as it identifies important aspects of my life towards attaining professional experience and skills. The workbook provides a student with opportunity to consider other opportunities and avenues that may better meet professionalism that is greatly needed in contemporary world. This envisioned me by helping me to meet the needs and demand of my career thus able to grasp all the intended professional goals. The book is divided into discussion and individual tasks, whereby a student can be able to meet the requirements as an individual or as a group. I realized that the book does not limit a potential job seeker as it has no requirements for beginners. The most vital of part the book that I found essential for professional growth is the individual work that has been embedded in it. It is reflective sections that can help a student or a career developer to be able to gauge his/her progress towards professional job. The discussion part makes made it easier for me to understand several issue pertaining to workplace safety as well as other issues. I noticed that during discussions I was able to understand various issues that I could not make up by myself hence other members of the discussion panel come forth and pointed out the pending issue to me. I realized that there were several advantages towards professional growth while working in with another person as directed in the workbook; the other party offered me with necessary information about myself, in addition it also gave me the chance to beef up my interpersonal communication skills as I was able to communicate with my discussion group members. Since the workbook is self explanatory I found that understanding the requirements in the workbook that guides an individual towards getting the needs he/she wants towards professional understanding of issue could be handled without further explanation since the workbook was use friendly. Upon first reading of the workbook, it instantly reminded me of the current trends in the workplace as well as in the society that ought to be accomplished in order to meet future changes. As a student I was able to prepare lists of the current concerns of the society. This issue improved my awareness of all contemporary issue that can improve my professionalism. The workbook also guides an individual on how to choose vital trends that professional worker needs for him/her to handle bigger roles and tasks in the workplace. I had always assumed that the understanding the needs of a professional person is just as easy as working across a road, but I noticed via the workbook that a professional future lies on better described future trends. All these are shown in the workbook making it easier for an individual to plan for his 10 to 20 years that are coming as well as help to identify the most important changes that an individual should make towards attained a better career. I identified that some of the content is the workbook permits an individual to be able to mark some of the lifelong experiences as well as enjoyable experiences that he /she has ever heard in his work. With this I was able to know all the experiences and challenges that calls for amendments towards professionalism. Reflective 1 At first I assumed that ethics are rules and regulations governing certain practice, but upon reading Cowton’s texts I realized that I was wrong and noted that ethics is norms for conduct that distinguished unacceptable and acceptable behaviors. I realized that most people learn what ethics entails at school and mostly from their homes, although most people acquire their sense of something good or bad during childhood. According to Cowton’s readings understanding ethics is like passing through chains of moral development. As a student I also noted that ethical norms are so omnipresent that everyone in school or in the workplace is tempted to regard them as mere simple common sense. However, after careful analysis of all the concepts concerning ethics I asked myself “if morality were just commonsense, then why are there ethical disputes and dilemmas in our workplaces?” I realized that one important explanation of all the disagreements in workplace as well as other avenues in life is that individuals understand and recognize some of the ethical norms that exists, but the problem is the mutual understanding and interpretation and application of the different ways that these norms affect our own values and life as well as workplace experiences. As a student in a university, I found that understanding ethics is one of the most important tools for professionalism in future workplace and also during my research. After watching a video clip about different ethical approach to problems in the workplace I realized that without understanding the ethical codes that are enlisted in a workplace then an employee or worker will always be prone to disputes or even loose of job. For example, i. Many students undertaking research projects like thesis and dissertations often fail due to lack of consideration of the ethical consideration of the research work there are undertaking. I noticed that several students fail this since there are not able to compound the importance of considering the rights of participants during research. ii. Other research work does not meet the demands of the society in that it fails to deliver ethical significance to the society hence the research project cannot be able to be contemporary. As a result of this I emphasized learning more about ethics in the workplace as well as the logical understanding of how to make my career ethical conscious. Upon taking a course on ethics I realized that the world has been handling issues outside ethical concerns and is faced with several downfalls that could lead to downfalls in research as well as in the workplace. As a student I found it important to understand all the ethical codes pertaining to my career as well as understanding other relevant ethical codes that seem important to be me or one that could shape my career towards professionalism. Thanks to Cowton for his well elaborated importance of ethics in accounting as this helped me turn tables to other ethical dilemmas during my attachment. Read More
